im getting some weird bugs with the new server version.
it shut down my server, i was playing in it when this happened.. the map was about to be loaded, time left was going from 3,2,1... Server disconnected.
wth?
this is from the console (arsse)

im sure i didnt do anything, cuz i was ingame playing.. and other admins were all offline.
the server isnt hosted by me, and the host is already sleeping :/ no more server for me today...
after i had this i started gonig through the logs, this is another thing i found..:

every time i get that error, it spams that like 30 lines in the same second.
moving on to the next thing:

im getting those 'errors' basicly everywhere throughout the log, sometimes every second, sometimes not for a few minutes..
also i found about 100-200 lines of this in my log:

hmm, maybe this should be in a different thread ^^

edit: im not sure if these errors were already in previous server versions, but i just searched the logs after the server shutdown..

You'll need to get your host to get the exact error that occured, assuming it wasn't caused by a SHUTDOWN being issued.

im sure it wasnt, and why would i need the host to get the error? the logs save everything right.. its the logs from the server (ftp..)
and to make it even nicer: it just happened on my other server too.
exactly the same thing.. i was playing, next map was about to come, server disconnects.
same situation, same logs.. admins and host offline..

Server is unstable, I get also shutdowns for no obvious reasons, nothing in the logs.

Ive had it running on all my client servers for months, no problems at all. Turn off things like scripting.

No shutdowns for me. Everything works smoothly.

i've turned off scripting now, i hope it will keep running now.
are you sure the problem is with the scripts? will there be a fix?
because the scripting feature is one of the nicest things in the new server, would suck to disable it just to keep the server running
edit: will /loadcon also load server.ini (with scripting enabled or disabled)

im getting some weird bugs with the new server version.
it shut down my server, i was playing in it when this happened.. the map was about to be loaded, time left was going from 3,2,1... Server disconnected.

that repeated logging error is something that has been around for a while, though I'm not sure if it was present in 2.5.0 or 2.5.1. I know it used to be in 2.4.9 because I'd see crazy stats show up on my site

I haven't had any problems with 2.5.2 so far. Well, my server did crash couple of times today, but I doubt it's because of 2.5.2 because my 2.5.2 servers on two another servers have been running just fine for days now.

seatorm, cats and "stmth" were doing a 1on1 duel in DM mode, i unpassworded the server because they finished. thats why it returned "currently no server pw" (isnt the same as admin pw)
after that i changed gamemode to CTF, and then it crashed/shut down

With the scripting support you can do this. I already did this for my servers.
Create a folder named 'logs/admin', and then have this in your Core.pas:

It doesn't log commands by TCP admins, only in game admins, but you can easily change that. The logs include date, time, name and IP of the player, and of course the admin command.

Found out that /gamemode causes crashes, might be fixed in the next version if the cause gets tracked down.

The newest version has more verbose crashing; it looks like it's shutting down, but it actually crashed, but was able to recover enough to save settings and shut down cleanly. Previously it didn't do that, it would just crash and die the hard way.
Until you get the exact error description from your host, we won't know why it's crashing.

the host is seastorm, he posted the errors here too.
when i woke up today his server crashed again, and 1min ago my climb server crashed too, during a mapchange.
the server was far more stable before the update, my climb server would be running for 5-10 days without crashing, now it crashes about daily. and the log-flood is very irritating, when there is a maperror it just floods my arsse and because of the lag i cant change map..

well, it sucks to have an old version.. especially because scripting owns and /votemap owns as well. i was hoping for a fix actually :p

Hi, I have this problem too, on my computer (Debian linux, 300Mhz, 128MB ram) its running Soldat 2.5.2 server and Team Speak server. Soldat server work fine for an 30 minutes, and then freeze.I can connect to game, but its freeze (like lag), and in linux I cant kill soldatserver dameon - i must restart server manualy. But Team Speak server runs for an hours without any problem with freezing....

Use kill -9 to force kill it if it freezes; disabling scripting may eliminate issues with crashing.
