Title: To whoever might continue R
Post by: Keron Cyst on January 06, 2007, 08:43:45 pm
After already fetching ideas from MM and noldi, please:
• finish the game; make a bad ending, a good ending, and a best ending
• fix all those errors in the characters' text
• remap the editor's keys so it's easier to manage (mouse-based, even?)
make Gustav's lyrics come half a second before the next verse so we can actually sing along

nah leave gustav's lyrics how they are because I don't think they're meant to be a sing along, but just the lyrics (and who would sing along anyway :x)

is anyone actually trying to continue the game?

I kinda tried to sing Gustav's part :-[ Quietly...

Yeah, I'm actually trying to make some dream levels to replace the ".not finished" ones... I'm kinda limited, tho', since I don't want to show off zorths, and crabpigs and trackers have become old (well, perhaps I'll still use them). I dunno... I'll come up with something

The song was meant to be a karaoke song, with a dancing ball and everything. That was my original idea.

More people need to see this game in order to find someone that would take care of it. Do you guys know any sites where I can upload it? I don't know if they accept unfinished games.

you have to have the words on the bottom of the screen with a little smile that bounces from word to word like those kiddy sing-a-long songs

GameHippo (http://gamehippo.com) doesn't care if its games are unfinished (you can just label "beta" or something), but they usually take a while to review games.

Yeah. GameHippo is probably the best place to put it.
They have lots of traffic & they are fair about their reviews.

MM can you send me an email with a attach file of all what I need to compile R properly with the Fmod file and all that because I'm sure that I don't have all the file (like SDL_version, fmod_output) because it doesn't work so it would be easier for me if you send me all the file that I need to compile

thanks

PS: I'm new with c++ so I don't have all those source code that you have used like SDL so that's why I have little problems with that.

I was searching my name on this forums because I was as bored as hell and I came across this. It says "after fetching ideas from Michal and Noldi." I don't remember giving any ideas? I think you got a mistake here Keron. Someone else might have helped you, but not me.

I'd make a page for it there and advertise that it's open source.

Uhm, I'm experienced in C++, I've used SDL for tilebased games and coded some DirectX 'games'.. this 'R' game is coded in C++ ?

I would gladly finish it if it's allowed... is it?

Ok, I'll start coding it and make some bug fixes, etc.

To moderators and/or admins: Am I allowed to make new topic where I can tell news and updates what I have done in the code?
I'm so inspirated to this and want to finish the code  :)

That'd be great, Mikeman. I'm sure many would be interested in seeing your progress, and it's not like anything much is happening in this forum section, anyways...

I just need to get look in to the code more and learn Fmod, never used it before.

I was also thinking to use the R's engine to create new game but maybe I'll just continue R from it's current code.
