Title: Crimsonland mod version 1.1
Post by: Lord Frunkamunch on January 09, 2007, 11:11:18 am
Crimsonland mod that came about as a result of prolonged boredom and a broken internet

Flame is a shrunken down version of an explosion from Freespace, and muzzle flashes were copied from Field Marshal's Metal Slug and Spec Ops mods. I am *NOT* in any was claiming I made them, and they will be removed from the link if he objects.

Oh, I didn't make the interface weapons either, just outlined them, replaced the black background with the transparent green, and cut them to fit the Soldat interface without overlapping.

Interface is not the actual Crimsonland interface, as I don't have an interface maker and it wouldn't fit when I pasted it over my old interface. It is made from copied Crimsonland parts though.

Basically, the only things made exclusively by me were the weapons-gfx and the stat gun.

I've got no problem with you editing this, although if you have an especially good modification or idea, post it here.

*EDIT* Many thanks to -Vis- for providing the gun sounds, link updated.

*Another edit* One more update, fixed a few weapons-gfx.

Newer download link is http://files.filefront.com//;6716652;;/

Thanks. By the way, I forgot to update the preview picture with a few changes I made, the stat gun is shorter and the jet bar looks like a greenish version of the health bar. The thick blue one's still included, though; the green one's just the standard. There's also a stat gun without the chair/ammo box, and a smaller cannon to choose from.

*EDIT* Preview picture replaced with the changed interface.

That's the great thing about Crimsonland... the weapons are already there for use in a Soldat interface ;D. Some people frown upon rips, but I think it's silly to draw your own interface weapons when they're already there to be used... it can't really get any better looking. :D

I made my own Crimsonland mod, which does the same thing. I like my weapon gosteks better, although mine doesn't have an interface. :P

edit: I noticed there are almost no sfx to go with it... if you need help ripping sounds, I can help you out with that.

Further edit: I'm surprised you didn't add any ion weapons. They're my favourite. :-\

Yeah, I noticed a post of yours somewhere saying you had one...I could definitely use some sounds, googling didn't really help. There actually is an ion weapon...Sort of... the stat gun's barrel is the ion minigun. I would've added some ion weapons aside from that, but the only other one that was 'Soldatlike' was the shotgun, which I already had (albeit plasma) and the minigun, but I didn't want to have 3 in the same mod, so I made the AK the jackhammer, even it was meant to be like a shotgun.

I love it. Nice job on the interface :).
He didn't make the interface graphics, people... he just took it from Crimsonland. They were already like that from the game (I'm not objecting actually doing that, but he shouldn't get credit for just converting filetypes and renaming some graphics).

That's some very nice weapons-gfx. :)

I started making crimsonland mod but I quited, it was looooong time ago... and this one looks great but I made the back and it was awesome, look here: http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=4791.0 actually I made few things better but making crimsonland mod that isn't hard at all, all that you need for weapons is in the folder in game directory, all the pics and as keron cyst said the interface staff can be easily taken from game... no matter on that i think this is nice mod! ;)

weapons-gfx are nice, but i quess they are resized interfaces. And interfaces are taken from the original Crismonland game. So nothing original ....and btw this mod is already made. Dunno if it was by you, but I've got one same....

Yeah, I've seen other ones, although I think I did a slightly better job on the interface weapons than the ones I saw. The weapons gfx were resized, but I spent a good while editing/recoloring them. Some effort, not much above minimal.

The splitter gun doesn't exist in soldat, you invented that one and the dagger.
Instead of that splitter gun you could put the ion rifle, what do you think ?

??? The Splitter Gun is from Crimsonland... why should it not be in the mod? (I use the Ion Rifle instead of my ruger though :P).

You clearly haven't beaten level 4:10 on hardcore mode. (Unlockable weapon, that's as far as I've gotten in the game though.)

I did 'make' the dagger up, although look closely at the blade and then at the shiny part of the plasma minigun's barrel (upper left). The handle was just the clip from the jackhammer.

btw, -Vis-, is your mod downloadable anywhere?

*EDIT* No, the splitter gun doesn't exist in Soldat. It exists in Crimsonland.  ;D

Nope. It's not even finished actually. I've been messing around with the weapon gosteks (the only part of the mod I created myself). I don't plan on releasing it though, since I "borrowed" your copy of the interface, and your weapon interface looks better than mine. :P

My favourite weapon gostek so far is my plasma shotgun:

It made me fall in love with the shotty all over again. ;D

MEGA BUMP. Alternate weapons time!

Not all of the weapons are entirely finished. Some weapons-gfx files are missing, although everything important (i.e the weapons themselves) is included. There aren't any sounds for any of the new weapons, either. But hey, at least I bothered posting them, right?

Crimsonland... Such a nostalgic feeling. This mod deserves a five, even if it weren't about Crimsonland.

I didn't actually make a mods folder for it, so just copy your original files and then overwrite this mod over your soldat files.

Right, for exactly the same reason I began this mod (borked computer) I've actually made some good progress on finishing it. I've done all the weapons-gfx for weapons not included in this version (And they're good ones, too. Much better than the shrink jobs in the original version), so expect the mod to be posted when I get my computer running. I'm also working on a weapons.ini mod, which was going along great until I realized that my computer was fucked up to where I can't run Soldat to test it out.

So anyway, if anyone could link me to a mod mixer that'd really help. It's indefinite when I'll be able to finish this, but that would speed things up.
