Title: Soldat Anti-Slang Challenge
Post by: Cube on January 12, 2007, 07:02:50 am
Hello folks, Cube has just made a new program.

Soldat Anti-Slang Challenge (SASC) is a program that automatically converts slang phrases like btw into by the way as you type them. It is written in Autohotkey.

It has been written for those who hate their habit of writing fast and using abbrevations. It's actually not really Soldat-related, but very useful in the middle of a fight where you don't want to write long sentences.

Here is the list of the supported slangs:

(I left slangs like "lol" out, because nowadays lol is something like hahaha and you needn't to change it into "laughing out loud")

Code: [Select]
     thx - into - thanks

u - into - you
plz - into - please

HOW TO USE IT:

You type "btw" (without " of course) and the program converts the btw into by the way. It is possible that you'll have to type a [SPACE] after btw to expand it.

VISIT THE WIKI: http://wiki.soldat.nl/SASC

Don't forget that things like fu which go into a word censored by the forum, but they are not censored in SASC

I think this are the most common slang phrases. If you think there is one I should add, contact me.

Additionally, if you type "xdate" it is automatically replaced with the current time an date. If you wish, I can also add other variables.

In future, I will also connect SASC with SK, which is Soldat Killer and it's link is here: http://wiki.soldat.nl/Soldat_Killer.

Have fun using it and please submit your comments here.

Thanks in advance.

so... how to use this thing?
at least you could include some kind of readme...  :P
[Edit]
Another question: why does it have *H* icon? It doesn't make sense really...

i edited the first post, read again now :P
[EDIT]
Another answer: It's because it's made with a certain program and I haven't changed it yet. I'll fix that.

pix = pictures
This is great. Does it work with the soldat client?

Edit: GARGH! It needs to affect what other people say as well! Someone, like NSC or Shoozza, should do this.

mmh, it will be hard for me to make that with the soldat client, because SASC works windowsly, not soldatty if you understnad :P

ill add pix

Nice program.  :)
But it would be much better if you didn't have to type a space before and after the word.

How about some longer sentences? For example: "fu" - I don't want to have anything in common with you, or 'omg' - I can't stand that such a thing is happening at the moment. Sounds kinda nerd- funny-geek to me. ^^

Hope I translated it properly. ;]

perhaps you could add a config file that people are able to edit themselves (so they can add them) and you won't have to rebuild the program each time you wish to add some.

All he uses is this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ahk/
Not that hard really to make your own. In fact it would only take a couple minutes.

Just install it and then make a new text file.
Then add new entries in the form of:

Code: [Select]
::btw::by the way
::brb::be right back

Then save it as whatever.ahk and run it to start.
Theres also an option to make it into an .exe but thats not needed since you have the program installed.

Theres also a lot more you can do with it, just read the help file. :D

@mikembm:

in fact v1 wasnt that hard to make, but v2 isnt that easy anymore with that config file where everything is in, and ill make a userinterface where you can add/modify/delete slang abbrevations, and that, isnt that easy anymore, is it?

(i mean for a beginner)

It's easier for me to make my own then have to download yours and then edit it.  ;D

yea, your completely right, but, as you said, for YOU. not everyone has leet skills with ahk and it's somehow easier for those to download it and use it.

with v2 there will come new features, and you will be able to edit the list yourself (by a nice userinferface, not simply a .txt file)

i think ill connect my several ahk apps into one big application, and that, mikembm, is more difficult then making each one. ill make it coming along with a user interface and many nice features.

i will probably include the following programs (or more):

- Soldat Killer
- Soldat Anti-Slang Challenge
- Bloody-Weapons

and maybe my big project, the SSK (Soldat SuperKit Project).

But also only those 3 are much enough to call it a program and not just a AHK script

Leet skills? All you do is put 4 colons around a word and then put it's full spelling next to it. Sure, maybe an interface and stuff would be hard, but what mike described looks quite easy.

yea, ur correct, that what i did was actually easy. but the idea was also worth something, wasn't it?

and, as you said, interface wil be harder, and connecting those programs will be even harder.

i didnt say i have leet skill, by the way :P
if you don't like my program, dont use it.

as i said, expect v2 for better experience
