'Connection Closed Gracefully'
« on: January 31, 2007, 12:12:13 am »
Okay, i remotely run a server, and i access it through an FTP. I have full command of it, except it's just not located where i live.
Anyway, i uploaded about 5 new maps that i downloaded straight off these forums onto the FTP. I put them in the correct locations and everything. I restarted the FTP/Server, then jumped into my server to try it out. I first tried Ctf_Super_Mario_World, and each time the server went to open it, it would briefly start the map, then quit out of the server, taking me back to the lobby. If i clicked Connect again i would get a message saying "Could not download Ctf_Super_mario..." blah blah blah.  I tried a few things to fix it, but nothing, so i gave up.
I then proceded to try Ctf_Agape and that worked beautifully. Me and two friends were playing in it wonderfully. End of the match came, then it went back to one of the generic maps. So we decided to play Ctf_Agape again, but this time it did the exactly the same thing as Ctf_Super_Mario_World. If i clicked connect again, i would repeatedly get the message "Connection Closed Gracefully" and the only way to get rid of it was to reopen Soldat, and go on to ARSSE and change the map through that before rejoining my server. It seems to just pick and choose when it wants to play and when it doesn't.
This has happened to all the new maps i put on, and i would really like some custom maps happening. If anyone has some explanations or some problem fixes, i would be happy to hear them.
Thanks a lot in advance,

Deadpool.

Ctf_Super_Mario_World exceeds the maximum allowed length of map names, and is known to cause bugs when a map with a long name is loaded.

What version of the dedicated server are you running, what OS are you running it on?

The windows server is known to have occasional issues with connections when it comes to map transfers.

Is there a way to fix it?

Nightcrawler: have you tried uploading your maps via FTP to the server? Transfer all the files coming with the map download to the server and it should work. Otherwise, maybe go to the server help subsection of the forums and elaborate on your problem.

I unpack the files from the .zip or .rar or however they came. Then i access my FTP, go into the correct folders, and upload all the files. Ex. All the scenery-gfx files i upload one by one into the Scenery-gfx folder. And do the same with the textures and maps.
