I remember the first time I played soldat. It was at my friends house 2-3 years back. Because we only had a single computer we jouned a pub, and he got keyboard and I got mouse. It was some damn good fun. I didn't get into the community until recently, but I've been playing it for a while. My favorite version was 1.2.1, and I had trouble moving to the 1.3 and 1.3.1. Now I am happily enjoying bothe the community and the startup time on the barret and knife. (no so much the knife I used to be sav with that)

i started playiong on version 1.1.4..joined forums when version 1.1.5 was just released..

and it's a real shame that those good old clans are gone, i always had something like 'whow, those guys rule, i want to be in tha clan!'

(what has soldat turned into?...)

The good old clans gone? There's no more c'n's, no more Fury, no more sv|... but the players that made those clans still play. There's |LP|, Asy, Apocalypse!, {EF}, etc.

I wish I was around in 1.2.1. I'm pretty sure i found Soldat just after the next version was released. I think I named myself In-The-Zone or something, and then changed it to Ozone.

Of course, this was before I knew what ping was ;).

What I remember was DNAserver, DNA.Styx with his "nice" forums, and some oldies in publics.

In 1.1.5 I used to play with some oldie Finns, like Zuup, Kornelius, Raektis, Suowarrior, Jonih and Kouleman. I used to plau 1.1.3 in school, during the breaks, but never really started back then.
I remember when -MN-, Metsänaperot was like "OMG they ownz all of u!". Well, wasn't really so sure about it after I saw some UJ and sv| players. TomPenny, with his Blind Faith has been my favourite. Damn that guy creates everything. I mean, if we do not have something, Penny will try to make 948543 things, and finally he succeeds in something, he fucks it up and others continue. (#Soldat.Gather)

I am also known for fucking up U13 stats, which FLAB worked for some days. Took 2 days for me to make them useless by abusing the system. :( I wish I could change the way things went. >_>

What I remember from the "new" age, (1.2->) is deagles, they were pretty powerful. :p Also, refular fights with Lightning and Mandlc in IRC. :D

And the year 2006 I was way too inactive, and I still am.  Less I coudn't care until 1.3.2.

Yeah I think same as duke. I always hear that 50% of the fun, community and cool servers died after 1.3.
I already had 1.1.whateva but I rarely played it, and if I did, mostly against bots. A pity, but maybe, Soldat will go on after 1.3.2, and then when 1.4. comes out, I can tell the new and semi-olds "How it was like in 'those old days'"

I remember playing back when the sidearm was called the colt .45.
I joined up with MJ in his clan Ninjafish, we had like 30 people and we lost every war we were in against decent teams.
Then he and I founded NWA and did fairly well for ourselves, I remember we beat SS which was a big deal at the time.  After that optik joined our clan, took over, and cleaned house, which was a shame because if he had just been a team player we had the talent (spectral and a few others) to challenge the best teams of the pre-1.1 era.
Losers complain about doing their best,
Winners go home and .... the prom queen.
