Notrium Zombie mod
« on: February 23, 2007, 06:05:18 pm »
So here I was, juts reading these silly topics about zombies here on SF and I just got inspired to make a zombie-like mod for a game called Notrium( http://www.monkkonen.net/notrium.php ).

Anyway, it is highly moddable, top down shooter that uses the same engine as crimsonland (Grim 2d). The reason I love this game is because of the easy to use item combining. I think it would go well with the zombie stuff. You could combine some items to create makeshift melee weapons and such.

The other reason for me deciding to make this is because, unlike Soldat, you can make this game have a different gameplay. You can make random terrain and preset terrain so you could have a somekind of rpg game. The possibilities are endless. Right now I'm thinking about a concept for this mod. Should it be today, near future or far future. What kind of locations would there be and what kinds of enemies. Plain zombies, or something special.

Just think about this, with zombies in mind. 8)

I'll definitely have to try it, but if it is based on crimsonland I love it already, and when you mention that's fully MODABLE I love it even more. another game to waste my time on it but with a smile on m face. i would put the action in this time but i can't say much more till i try the game, zombie (Hi! I am an idiot that tried to get past the swear filter. Everyone laugh at the idiot.) is a good idea though

I say do it based on the "screenplay" that I know i'll never finish writing. About a hitman who only kills zombies.

That would make my ego rise even more.

because it is top-down, I am assuming that you cannot have rooms right? or multiple story thingeys? cause I think urban warfare is the coolest when it comes to zombies.

yeah well it's hard to make urban maps with the editor, but if I had some good tiles and textures...

@iDante: I meant they were silly in a good way :P

You can have rooms, me thinks that there are some events or switches that teleport you to another map or something like that. Or you can make a room on the map. it all depends on what textures and objects you have. I have yet to figure out how to link the maps and so on but there is a tutorial so there shouldn't be any problem. It's easier than polyworks since all of that is based on textures for terrain and objets

As far as Zombie fighting is concerned, I think a cool open field style of warfare would be awesome. Wide open space with the zombies coming at you from all directions sounds like a fun time. That would make for an absolutely epic battle scene... *sigh*
