President Mugabe: Africa's crisis
« on: April 22, 2007, 08:42:03 pm »
Ok so I'm guessing you lot know all about bad Mr.Mugabe and how his country is starving while he furthers his own personnel gain. If you don't then allow me to present my own unbiased, unadulterated (except for the filters), simple explanation. Mugabe is a piece of shit that rules his country with the style of a dictator.

He suppresses all opposition whether condemning them as being pro-colonial (I'll get back to that) or having them arrested and beaten. He has forced aid workers to leave or re-apply to continue sending aid that is desperately needed in the country on the basis of colonialism (again). He is also a spineless coward that has the army and police bribed up to their necks meaning anyone calling out against him is forcibly and often violently arrested.

The reasons behind the anti-colonialists is that he, and many other people in Africa/Zimbabwe recently threw off "white rule" (taking possession of white farmers land and giving it to the Zimbabweans etc.) and by accepting aid they believe the "white" people want to "enslave" them and make Zimbabwe a colonialist country again. The other reason that there has been no civil war/coup etc is that people are starving and scared (wouldn't you?), you can't begin a revolution on an empty stomach.

Mugabe plans to allow the aid workers back into the country if he is elected at the next election which is coming soon, a cruel and twisted means of fixing the election. People are more likely to want food asap than a new leader meaning they would vote based on their stomachs and not their hearts.

What's the point to all this? I would like to know what your view on this crisis is and whether or not you think Mugabe will be voted yet again and continue his corrupted reign. Some of the info above was borrowed from Wikipedia all thanks to it etc etc, copyright etc etc.

No Captain Ben but it's more than a shitty day isn't it? It's quite often a shitty life with no chance of escape. You shouldn't really compare a 3rd world country to the might of a 1st world one, with freedom of speech, Obesity being a problem instead of starvation etc. Heck I could pull that Oxfam stunt on you where I show you a slide show of starved Africans while playing sad music. It wouldn't really work with emo's.

You don't HAVE to say that, but it would be a realistic perspective.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

I recommend to all that read this book:

Pallassos I Monstres: La Historia Tragicomica De 8 Dictadors Africans
Author: Albert Sanchez
Language: Catalan

In english : clowns and monsters.

If you want to understand the african dictators( and european dictators like Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and Franco too) and
if you want to understand how YOU may convert in one of them...

Remember:
You must learn catalan first.   :)

All i can say is, Africa is a sinking continent. Europe screwed them over and now it pathetically tries to help along with other Western countries, but the truth is, at this point they are the only ones who can save themselves. And i agree with captain Ben. We can all have bad days. The last thing I want to do though after going through a ton of bullshit is stop and think about third world countries though. That's just even more depressing.

Shaman, thank you for replying to my question even if you have the tone of a doomsday prophet. I'm not saying everyone should drop all tools and hit themselves if they even think that they are having a bad day, out of guilt. I merely asked for opinions and perceived outcomes when it comes to the next election, with the hopes of encouraging interest in politics and/or world events out there.

Yes you lot may read the newspaper or watch the news but do you question what goes on or does it linger for a few minutes, just long enough for the next football/rugby/cricket match to arrive on screen?

I'm an european and my nation never has colonized another.

You think mainly about France(that still is colonizing), England, Spanish, Portugal, Germany.

There are a lot of european countries that have never colonized.

The best news these days are the growing of China interests in Africa.
I think african people are too much centered in european/africa and white/black point of view.

African people must do it themselves. Western world can help if do the right thing like leaving alone kind of african dictators.
