Forums Downtime
« on: June 22, 2006, 01:12:27 pm »
I figured I owe you guys an explanation for the forums downtime that has occured twice in the past week:

As you know, I spent a bunch of money on a new server.  It is having some kind of problem that is causing it to crash every 2-4 days, and I'm working on resolving it.  As part of the troubleshooting:
- I will need to let it crash like this, though now I know how to make it come back online sooner
- I will intentionally restart the server a couple times as I upgrade core parts of the system and look for a solution, though this shouldn't take more than a couple minutes.

Since I now have the access I need to restart the server remotely, the forums should never be down as long as they have been during these outages.

My sincere apologies for making you guys wait so long for the new forums, and then having this happen.  Since I care about the quality of the forums, and because I spent so much time and money getting us to where we are, you can rest assured that I'm doing my very best to get this fixed, as soon as possible.

Lets see the old host make a promise like that ;)

When the entire server is offline and I know why, I ignore e-mails from everyone because I get so many.

No offense, it isn't a personal thing, but if I explained to everyone what was happening then it would be down for far longer since I wouldn't be able to focus on getting it fixed

Lol! I'm surprised you see any websites with that browser ;)

Nice tray. You better have like 2 GB of ram to run all that.

I decided to remove my signature, since jrgp was picking on me by sending me annoying PM's. - Chrono, Wednesday July 27, 2007
