death console options

changed the subject.

new suggestion: make the death console customizable.

an option menu like:

  • Death color
  • Kill color
  • Suicide color
  • Number of lines
  • Show weapon used to kill
  • Show killer (if unchecked only deaths will be showed not kills)
  • Show points next to names
  • Show # of kills made during life next to names
  • Do not show numbers next to names


old post in case anyone wants to read it:

on the death console it shows names like this: Major (1)

change the number to the number of kills the player made during that life. you can see people who are on big killing streaks, and if you want to see points just use f1.

maybe make this a client-side option if you want points or current kills?

Well, different jetflamecolours are pretty useless too.
As is many of the cmd's if not all.
As is "fall damage".
As is ingame mp3, since you can just run something on the side.
As is a lot of things in soldat, but we like them 'cause they're damn cool!

Rendering soldat every bit more customizable makes it cooler per step. Ofcourse it can be too much, but I actuaælly like this idea. Not all of it though, but I think it holds potential.

Maybe something like "favorite weapon" could be add'ed..

Being able to change the colors of the death console would rock. Right now they're pretty readable, but maybe I don't like green, red and yellow. Maybe I want them to all be pink (which I don't, just an example).
We're already able to change the length of the kill console. It's the variable KillConsole_Length in soldat.ini.
The various other customizations would be nice, but I think it would be best if they're implemented as .ini options or ones in the configuration program.

I don't really see a reason for it, and while it might be cool for a while, I wouldn't use it so no.
