I'm doing a wild guess: Do you have AVG as anti-virus programme?

It seems many people have problems running 1.4 with avg but I have the newest edition of it and I run both versions of soldat just fine. Just saying is I wonder why thats only a problem for some.

DePhille, as of yet nobody has had access violations because of AVG, and it sounds to me like he's talking about access violations.

AVG blocks the soldat executable. This results in a missing icon, so the icon is replaced with a standard executable icon for windows (usually a window). Also, when you try to run Soldat, it will say the access to the file has been denied, some modified systems give en error code too.

However, it might also be an access violation as you said. In that case I suggest this:
- Try playing with the video settings in the config.exe program that came with Soldat.
- If you're using 24bit colours, please set it to 16bit or 32bit colours.
For more suggestions I'd need some more information about the hardware (GFX card), operating system and problem.
