A lot of topics have been made lately regarding the virus detection in 1.4 and people seem to miss the stickies. I myself use active topics and the only way to see a topic there that's been stickied is by the icon(which is something you don't look at that much). So some people(like me) might miss the "active" stickies. My suggestion is to either add the Sticky: like in the normal view or a different color for the entire text like white.

That sticky about the 1.4 virus thing was originally posted in General Discussions, whereas it should have been posted in Need Help? Report Bugs!. 

I just moved it to the correct forum yesterday, and I think this is the reason that many people didn't see the sticky.

Additionally, people don't not see the stickies because they look like everything else, they don't see the stickies because people are too lazy to browse/search the forums BEFORE posting a thread with their problem/question.  People are lazy, that is the problem.

stickies should be bolded, then I would notice when a new one is added.

Yeah. Most of the time I don't notice them just because I'm view everything in active topics where it's not bolded. Also people in my opinion don't notice them because they don't stand out which they should and in active topics they only have that icon.

Topics about the Trojan are still popping up in the "Need help? Report bugs!" section. The announcement had more reads when it was unstickied.
I think we have too many stickies, I also look over them sometimes. We just need less stickies, making them stand out will help for a week, until users get used to it again.

That option was removed for a few specific reasons a while back

that doesn't mean anything except that everyone who has read it isn't going back and reading it again.  It makes sense that a thread is going to be read a lot more when it is new, it has nothing to do with the fact that it is stickied or not.  A perfect example of correlation, not causation

You can't use the excuse that people just don't notice the stickies, when half of the first page of topics is locked threads about the exact issue they are posting on. It's laziness, pure and simple.
