Just use the original files as a template. If I ain't way off track now I think that most modders doesn't actually scale down the Interface-gfx\Guns graphics down and use them as Weapons-gfx; instead they just draw out the general shape of the gun and recolor and -shade it. At least that's what I would recommend you doing.

Don't resize interface sized images to gfx size... it's a silly idea. Like Toumaz said.. just draw the general shape of the gun using the same colours from the interface image.. But remember to keep to soldats proportions otherwise you will have giant guns.

I look at the interface-gfx through Paint, while zooming in X6 or X8 on a blank new file for the weapons-gfx. Then I paint the weapons-gfx manually, looking at the interface-gfx as a general guide while I work. Try that...

Don't use MS Paint to scale weapons. It's horrible, it has no antialiasing. You should use The GIMP to do that, if you insist. What you do is scale the interface picture so that it has the same height as the weapons-gfx image. Be sure to take off the black border first, though. While it will require a lot of tweaking after you shrink it down, it should give you a starting point to work off of. I recommend starting by erasing all the extra blurry parts and making everything 0% transparent.

Weapon sprites with a height of 3 pixels: SPAS-12, Knife
Weapon sprites with a height of 4 pixels: Desert Eagles, LAW, M79, Ruger
Weapon sprites with a height of 5 pixels: AK-74, Barrett, SOCOM, AUG
Weapon sprites with a height of 6 pixels: M249, MP5, Chainsaw
Weapon sprites with a height of 8 pixels: Minigun
It's pretty easy to check if you're not sure. I recommend doing so before resizing images. If you're too lazy, make the height 4 or 5 pixels, as most weapons will be able to handle this.

I just use 'paste from' and get both the interface picture, and the original I'm replacing, in the picture.
