Armia (1.4)
« on: May 10, 2007, 07:52:18 am »
Well, I've combined my two favorite old .ini mods by converting one of them to realistic mode, I've never posted them before so I hope you like them. I am the only person to beta test them for long periods of time and they are not intended to be completely balanced, just completely fun. I'd love if some other people tried it out, because i could use some feedback. Remember to back up your default .ini files in another folder or under another name. ;)

I'll list vaguely what all of the primaries do in both modes.

Normal Mode (almost everything is insanely powerful)

Deagles- 2 shots, pops enemies with ease and sends your soldat hurtling backwards.
HK-medium rate of fire automatic, rips your enemy's flesh straight off the bone.
AK- unlimited ammo!.. but insane self binc, rapid clicking is very effective at any range
Steyr- fires five short range rockets, make sure you don't run into them.
Spaz- fires a continuous stream of almost harmless pellets, but fast enough to send your enemy flying with a short burst or hold down to fly through the air like a birdie... a birdie with a jetpack... don't try getting kills with this one though. for use in ctf and inf mainly.
Ruger- 4 shots, no binc, each shot is deadly and they can be fired in reasonably rapid succession. the catch? not a good idea to fire on the run with this one.
M79- like a normal m79 but with 3 shots! :O
Barret- no movement acc, 1 shot kills, HUGE binc.
Minimi- steady rate of fire, always accurate reasonable damage and speed.
Minigun- DOOM! this weapon is a face pulping ammo spouting mass murder machine. rips your enemy's weapon from his hands an instant before turning him to mush. loooong reload.

Realistic (not such an overpowered orgy, much more strategy-ish)

Deagles- classic western six-shooters. hard to aim, blows the enemy's gun from their hands.
HK- swift blue forks fly from this semi-auto
AK- kinda like a lawnmower...
Steyr- wait... wait... wait... wait... CONTINUOUS NAPALM FRENZY!
Spaz- short range, instant kill.
Ruger- shoots deadly knives! :O
M79- slow loading, fast shooting. fires a hail of deadly arrows.
Barret- my personal favourite. i was reaaaaally pleased when i worked out how to make this. Fires little invisible singular flames which embed themselves in your enemy and catch shortly afterwards. Use the scope to track your enemy's movements, as the scope will stay focussed on the flame wherever it is in the map until the enemy's blood puts it out. ;D (can also instant kill with ricochets.)
Minimi- fires nades.
Minigun- intense rapid fire, reasonably long reload, can hover for a sec.

they are ALL overpowered >:D , but yes, deagles and minigun are a step above the rest. I might balance them out if i get any interest in this... I think the realistic weapons are all quite balanced already, but i don't have anyone but myself to argue against that.

I played once on a similar server. Everyone had shotguns. Before anyone could shot the guy down he took the flag (ctf_Kampf) and flew away with light speed... And he did it over and over. Almost like hacker with superman or something.

... mustn't be very skilled. the Spaz in this mod is not really very good for capping, because if you enter an enemy's screen you will be dead pretty quickly, it's better for slowing enemy advances. In this mod all of the weapons are superpowered, so it's important to use strategy, all of the weapons give the user a unique role on the battlefield.

Also what about the unlimited ammo thing?

On the stretegic side of soldat, some of the best ways to kill players when they are most vulnerable is when they are reloading.

which weapon are you talking about? the strategy you would employ against any weapon depends on your weapon and the situation. All of the weapons have strengths and weaknesses, spaz and socom in normal mode are the only weapons which aren't meant to kill, but spaz and saw make a deadly combination with practice, as do socom and steyr. ;)

on a side note, i'm making this into a full mod, i'm about half way, i think. :)

I see you didn't make the already SUPERPOWERED socom more powerful in this mod. Good man ;)

Realistic steyr doesn't work.

Doesn't fire, doesn't act like it's firing.

geez man, lay off. I never said the socom was super-powered, just moderately unbalanced... and the RL socom in this mod does do damage. :P

yeah, that's because you have to hold it down for a long time. try that and you'll get some results. :)

I've finished the skins and interface now, just sparks and gosteks left before i release the full thing.
