Deathmatch - BattleGround
« on: June 17, 2007, 12:33:01 am »
Finally after a few weeks, I was physically able to get of my lazy-ass and construct a map.  I never was planning on making this map, I was extremely bored and starting messing around with PolyWorks.  I placed some nice polygons in a fashionable manner and eventually this was my outcome.

The Basics:
It only supports deathmatch related games.
It has a desert theme to it and a nice one too.
The visuals are pretty nice.
It is small to medium in size.
It is best for 5 to 8 players.

Overview:

Enjoy!

Map looks nice but put in more platforms and some scenery stuff...That will make the map more better lookin and the gameplay will be more complex i think...Nevertheless Good Job!

The shading is actually very interesting.  It has a three dimensional look to it.

Kind of a simple layout, tho' it may favor spraying. Polygon work is decent, although the bottom-left of the bottom-right rock is extremely jagged and should be rounded out by at least one polygon. (What's that white thing in that boulder's top-right area?) The roots.bmp in the bottom-right might seem a bit out-of-place; actually, most of the scenery does, just a bit... this map is more ambient and lackadaisical, kind of like a map at around dusk-time, rather than actively desert like DesertWind or ctf_Ash, so scenery should be outfitted/colored accordingly. Shading's all right, although it might seem a bit too radical, tho', like in the bottom-right, where the texture isn't stretched, or at least very much so, to accommodate the 3D effect.
Nonetheless, in comparison, this is probably the best map you've made so far. Nice work.

All of the white things are actually water puddles.  And you really consider this to be my best work?

This could easily be a default map.

Good work.

I also think it could use more scenery, but maybe I'm just addicted to scenery (I think it makes any map more interesting [as long as there's not too much to make it busy]). But the layout looks good for DM or TDM.

Maybe there needs to be another platform way above the right-most one? Like, at the same longitude as the left-most platform?
That's my input and I'm stickin' to it. :]

No, I didn't want to add to many platforms or the map would be crowded and it'll affect the game-play.

Shade a little bit the ground... the rest is ok, it likes me. The sun is great.
