New Mapping concept!

ok here is my idea (not copy righted its ok)

I am making db/climbing maps. Its a map where you have to climb to get to the db arena and then fight it out as db. heres a pic of teh concept  http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/4853/dbclimbjr2.png

Good DB concept.
This will prevent spawn knifing, but you might want to have two exits per side, so the exit doesn't get camped.

I don't like it. Games will never end as people hide in the climbing part. First to the top wins since the enemy will be at a huge disadvantage trying to enter the dodgeball part if the opponent is there first.

thats why you need multiple entrance points like mxyzptlk said. Maybe not a deadly climb more like a coverd blind maze so u cant see but neither cna the enemy waiting for u.

Actually, I think it would pwn if it were 50/50. Half climb, half DB. A team on each side climbing to the top to cap/score while duking it out with knives. Deadly polygons included!

thats an inteligent idea, but i think the part of the climb need be more long and a little bit hard

Actaully Ava, I don't think it will be a problem if Herb uses my suggestion. The point will be to get to the top to cap.

I can't think of a way to set the flags up to prevent capping more than once though. Unless you space the flags apart and make it so that the teams can access the other side (of whichever they are on) using the top of the map. That way additional climbing is required to score, and some really neat battles could take place.

I saw a gladiator idea earlier, perhaps a small arena at the top middle part of the map would be neat.

Then you're doing what I did with my ctf_climbwar4 map:

The difference is that this still won't work, because the moment the knife is thrown, it's pretty much gone. The map would just degenerate into a race to the top with little action in between captures and kills.

Simple fix: Weapon mod that shoots like 1-2 knives at a decent speed that's not too hard to dodge.

Vote Kick? Btw, i think the climbing part should be made of "hurt" pollys, to avoid stalling. And the flags should be in a kind of death bowl:

Why dont' you just make 25 different spawn points and scatter them around the map called "Drop points" and have a shield in front of each of them so there isn't a dedicated spawning hole which is a stupid idea... As if people wouldn't Nade the Crap out of the hole.. That's dumb haha!!

If people wanna camp all 25 drop points... W00t they have a mad job ahead of them.

I don't know how the engine works im too new to this game... So anyway... Hope this is a good suggestion. Spawn holes = gay
