Polys Disappearing Upon Compile in Polyworks!
« on: June 23, 2007, 08:56:04 am »
Ok, I went to all the trouble last night of trying to make a new mini mode along with a starter map. But the problem was, as soon as I played on it to test it out in soldat, all of the polys except for the two I put in the middle of the map disappeared. Even then the ones in the middle were completely invisible against the background. This has happened to me before, in Polyworks as well. I have never run into trouble using MM's Map Maker, but I seriously prefer using Polyworks. Would putting Polys right to the edge of the boundry cause this to happen? I layered a whackload of polys at the bottom, in an attempt to make a bouncy poly but seeing how none of the polys showed up PERIOD, I don't know what I did wrong. None of the sceneries showed up either. All  that was there were two invisible polys I made to spawn on.

umm, there are no real boundariesfor the maps. I don't know what is the problem with your map, but I had something similiar to that when I tried to edit a map I made with an earlier release of polyworks, maybe that's the case?

I'm Using the newest version of Polyworks, straight off of Soldatmods.tk
What I mean by boundries is the area where the gostek respawns at his spawnpoint if he touches it. I meant the edge. I noticed that I put the Polys right up against the "edge" and when I compiled it, the "edges" expanded.

That is just the background, not a real edge. you'll get the same effect when you fit the map on screen on the view tab(I think it's the view tab.

Can't really think of a solution so you might just wait till keron or someone as experienced looks at this...

Ok, thanks for helping out anyways. Maybe I might catch chakra's eye or, as you said, keron. Avarax is helpful too.

Are the polys invisible or non-existent? Make sure you compile the map before running Soldat.

Lol anna. Not saying its anything wrong with Polyworks it's self. Im pretty sure I put a bunch of polys down before I compiled it ;P  . I just know that the past 3 odd maps I tried making in PW have ended up doing the same thing over and over. All the polys vanish, and the ones that DO support the player are invisible. All the polys on the edge and bottom completely ceased to exist, but only the two in middle were able to support the soldat'sweight.

When you open the compiled version in PW, are the polys there or not? It might help if you post the map here.

Here it is.
If you're wondering about the criss-cross pattern at the bottom, I layered about 25 odd polys to get the bouncy polybug.
When I open the compiled version, everything is as it should be.

Your polys have 0 opacity and are set to only collide with bullets. Select all of them and change the opacity and polytype in the properties window to fix it.

Also you are probably using a pretty old version of PW. You can get the newest one in the PolyWorks thread.

Really, it looked like a compile related problem. Polys don't often turn invisible and non-colliding at the same time.

As for the version of PW, im using the version thats on soldatmods.tk.
Upon looking at your thread, I realise that there is a more up to day version out. Thanks.
