IP
« on: July 12, 2007, 06:46:46 am »
I keep my server on and when I start Soldat server and try to connect with ARSSE, I notice that the ip has changed.
This happens often.
Is there anything to do, that it won't change the IP?

Getting a static IP from your ISP, usually for a fee.

Apart from that there's a few dynamic DNS services around that can give you DNSes pointed to your current IP address, like <something>.homeip.net. Check out DynDNS.

You can use a DNS-name for your IP.

http://www.no-ip.com

Basically you create an account, then you specify the *.no-ip.*-address for your IP, and create the DNS. You need to update the DNS every time your IP changes. They provide you automatic program which is running bakground and updating the DNS whenever needed.
