Place/Website with cheap RAM?
« on: July 09, 2006, 01:03:38 pm »
I'm getting sick of how insanely slow my computer is- 246 mb of RAM does not cut it.

I can't even browse the internet well without my computer slowing down or freezing. So, i've got $439. I'd like to have a Gigabyte of RAM, but i'd like to get it as cheap as possible; can somebody suggest a place or website with 1 Gig of RAM for around that much money?

Newegg if your american, Mwave for any country, or anything. $439 will get you 2 gigs actually, because you can get 1 gig for $100 at Best buy in canada.

Since you have left over money can you get me a grpahics card :P

Yeah, newegg is IMO the best place to go to buy things for your computer.  Me bro's computer was assembled with parts straight from Newegg.

He assembled his computer out of parts he got from Newegg for less than $1100, and he can play FEAR, Doom 3, and FarCry with all settings set to max with an excellent FPS rate

I learned a long time ago that looking for the cheapest RAM is a bad, bad idea.  Find some quality stuff, a brand name people reccomend.

Don't be afraid to spend some extra money on RAM if it means having a faster or more stable computer

If you want the best deals on high quality Ram you need to buy from the manufacturer, not through a retailer, etc. I bought mine from Crucial, which is a division of Micron. - http://www.crucial.com/

It really isn't that difficult to run Doom 3 though. I'm running it pretty decently on a 500 dollar laptop with 512 ram and only a 1.5 ghz processor.

O yeh, and the graphics card is obviously some built in mobile intel piece of crap.

I also think it's time for me to get some more RAM.
I'm tired of my 2.7GHZ and 512MB of RAM...
