Running a Soldat server on a website
« on: August 20, 2007, 11:41:46 am »
Is there a way to do this? I have a website (paid hosting) and I'd like to use it for something other than the forums I have on it.

Thank you

If your host gives you a shell account and allows you to run programs then you should be able to. Read the guide for setting a linux server up in a topic buried somewhere in this forum.

.. even though it's most likely that your host won't allow you to.

Actually, they do allow shell access. To start the server would i run the soldatserver file or soldatserver.exe, and what command would I use to do that?

Be aware, that if your hosting is not on a dedicated machine (likely with webhosting), performance may suffer horribly.
