Halo wasn't bad, but I'm sure the halo population and server will go down, because halo 2 is out for Vista, and there are patches to fix it up for XP, but I'm not going to go into that. I hope Halo 3 will 'improve' halo.

Now I never said I don't give it credit for being one of the best selling FPS's ever. But far too many people blindly play Halo and only Halo, never trying another game. And then go around acting like it is the greatest game ever made. I never even said I don't enjoy a game or two with a friend. But for the people that play Halo, if you haven't, play other games. You will be surprised at how good some games are. Try games that "you hate". I hated RTS games becuase I thought they were too slow, only playing one or two. After that I played a round of Starcraft (around 2001) and thought it was great. Then I played Warcraft III and C and C Generals and saw the error of my ways. I always see people being like "I hate fantasy" or "I hate future" (not just here) and they have only played one or two from that genre. So many people only play Halo and only Halo, and that's just sad; they are missing out. That's pretty much my point, try other games if you haven't.

Your right. I have a friend that did that, He always sat in front of his computer plays MMORPG games.. Dugeons and Dragons, WoW, GW, but when I introduced him to soldat he loved fps from then. So he added DoD:S, CSS, CoD to his collection of games.

And those pale in comparison to Company of Heroes.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

To †:
You can compare shooters to an extent. 'This game introduced this new mechanic which puts it above this game which is merely a clone of another.' That is a legitimate comparison of games, how one is better than the other because it strays away from the norm, in a good way.

To LtKillroy:
I hope you aren't saying that I only play halo and think its the one and only game in the universe. Firstly, I played other games while I played that. Secondly, that game hasn't been in my drive for...who knows how long.
"yeah well its still good so yeah its good". Quote me once when I've ever said that. Instead you said CoD 2-3 are good as well as other games without saying why they are good and not the halo series.

To everyone who plans on making misconceptions about me. I know Halo has its flaws and it isn't the one and only game. I know other games beat it. What I'm saying is that some of the arguments said here (first one coming to mind is slow turning speed) are wrong and should be corrected. Other arguments may be right, and so I leave them be.

a-4-year-old mentioned no new features in the Halo series. Advanced AI is one. Sure games released recently have way better AI, but the AI in Halo 2 did quite a few unexpected things. They flanked, seemed to work together anyway.
The greatest feature of Halo 2, though, was online multiplayer. Obviously not new, but done so well. I can't think of one time when it failed me.
I'm also wondering what new features CoD brought us? I can honestly not think of any. Looking down iron sights maybe, but I'm pretty sure that had been done before.
However I did enjoy CoD to an extent, far too many sequels for my liking.

But it shows that a game doesn't need new features to be good, only needs to have improved on previous ones. If good games needed new features there would only be a couple good games.

I never saw them try to flank me, probably because I killed them because they suck. In any event, Call of Duty has  a great objective based single player and a much better mulitplayer setup then halo

I personally think COD 3 really sucked for the people who have played the previous ones and no wii multiplayer

Alright, Iridescent, I wasn't talking to you for most of that post. I was talking to the people who were like "it was rated well, so it has to be good" and have no mind of their own. And come on, good AI? Half the time it is just grunts sprinting at you guns blaring and you just blow them away. And I never said you didn't play other games, now did I. I specifically said "far too many people" naming no one in particular. CoD has great multiplayer, is that good enough for you. It may not have made much new, but it captured the necessity of infantry in war very well. And it was and still is a very good user of random shouts of your teammates and it shows the necessity of teams unlike most games. When you get killed in 3 shots you have to use your team, and it raises the necessity of using cover. But now I'm ranting...

Lies. I am so fucking sick and tired of planting a bomb on something than running away. Or clear out a building full of Nazis to complete my objective. The objectives were fun to do the first time, but they just get boring after a second play through. I'm not saying Halo's objectives were any better, but their more interesting because of the futuristic setting and theme. Please explain how CoD's multiplayer setup is better than Halo's, because I just don't see it. You just sound like a determined Halo hater.

it has something called a balance. and you don't have to go whore off the weapons you pick whatever one on startup. That makes it lightyears ahead of halo.

Halo is the sole game responsible for saving the XBOX from failure back in like 2001 or something.

THAT WASN'T EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT COULD BE EVEN CLOSE TO SOMETHING THAT IS EVEN SOMEHOW RELATED TO SOMETHING THAT MIGHT BE EVEN A LITTLE BIT HUMOROUS.

Halo is alright I guess.  I'll probably get Halo 3 just to see it's worth but I'd rather play the Battlefield series.  Modern Combat was my favorite online multi player game.

Halo shines from the solidity of its gameplay, as well as the story. In no way is the general concept origional, that's given. But, nobody can argue about killing alien armies hellbent on human destruction isn't fun. Halo for the win.

And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.
