My Weapon of Choice
« on: September 14, 2007, 03:09:05 pm »
Hello, I want to know the opinion of you people here on a little problem I have.
I've been a Soldat player for 3 years now, but I've started playing a lot more now than I did before.
The problem is, I can't seem to choose which weapon to choose. Some days I use Ruger, other days Steyr and then Deagles and sniper and whatever else there is. I have a feeling my lack of using one weapon makes me a worse soldat player than i really am, so I'd like you people to tell me which weapon to use. I will listen to anything but minigun and "Choose all of them".

Well, "Choose all of them" is apparently one piece of advice you don't want to hear, but honestly, i's good. If you learn a variety of weapons it prepares you for any situation rather than mastering only one or 2 weapons and becoming god-like with only those 2, because then your opponents will also not know which gun you are going to use, thus you have an advantage.

Being good with only one weapon is a TERRIBLE idea. Practice with at one least long, short, and medium range weapon. Otherwise, you'll get screwed with the barrett on maps like bunker, or spas in shau. Plus, having 2 of the same weapon if usually a waste, it's a combination of a long/short range weapon that'll really be effective when dual wielding.

I know that people like you say "Master them all". But I can't master them all at the same time, I will have to do it 1 by 1. And Just tell me which to start off with please.

lol no one can tell you which one YOU should use, you should use which one you are most comfortable with or if you still cant decide, just play around with one until your like ''hey i like this one, i may not be good at it, but i want to be'' then just practice with that gun.

Personally i like steyr, its a good all-around weapon, has pretty good range, and is quick like the mp5, it may not be the best for close combat but thats when a chainsaw, knife or even grenades come in handy.

Shotgun and any of the autos make pretty good starting weapons. M79 and deagles take a bit more practice, and ruger and barrett are the hardest to learn. Minigun is just crap any way you slice it. Then again, why slice crap in the first place...

Nice tips. I think I'll go for the hardest straight off, by going ruger.

Keeping with a variety of weapons is a good thing. You becaome a braoder player IMO if you do that. I personally use all weapons but specialize in autos. Minimi/SOCOM seems to be the combo im best with, although I like the other autos and deagles. My least used guns are knife/chainsaw/law, mainly because I end up getting myself killed using them. With the knife, I end up missing and/or throwing my main, chainsaw is too close range, and law is only good in some situations. I also dont use barrett, minigun, or ruger much.

Yeah...

I have 2-3 weapons I'm good with.

1. Steyr - I'm like, uber 1337 pwnage with it lulz.
2. Ruger - Always has a place in my heart <3
3. FN - its like the Steyr but more accurate.
4. MP5 - Eh, good for Zombie mashing, and close range rapage.

IMO, The Deagles and the Steyr are hardest to master.  Deagles because of their really wierd flight trajectory, and the Steyr because it has very low hitting power, so you have to make every shot count.
