Vampire mode
« on: July 09, 2006, 08:37:27 pm »
Hey, I got this idea for a mode when I was messing around on Mecha Soldat trying to be stealthy with dual claws...
What if there was a game mode called Vampire mode? In Vampire Mode, all players would start with half health, and for every time they hurt someone, they recieve either the amount of damage they did or they amount of damage they did divided by 2 health. This would make for some awesome zombiematches.
It was just a quick, hopeful thought. Hope it sounds like something you'd use. ^-^

there is no need for that, but the idea is ok.

In realistic you attack 3 people who try to multiattack you, you spray them, they shoot you, you manage to kill 1 , 50% hp restores, you kill 1 more, 50% restores and then finish 3'd, is that fair?

pointless.

Well, yes, I think it is, because if you killed 3 people......
And it doesn't have to start with half health, it could be 25%, 50%, 75%, or full. I think this idea has the potential to spawn many variants.
Also, if you killed 3 people, you're likely to lose some health in the process, meaning your health wouldn't be fully restored after the first kill. (Yay emphasis)

Well, at least I think it's a good idea. Or, how about that you start with full (or 75%) and you continually lose health. So then if you camp or run away for a while, it's not good. But you don't want to be in the fray too much, giving your enemies health (if/when you die)!

Challenging. :D

But having  "vampires" in Soldat is completely obscure, unrelated to war, and just plain creepy. This is a no from me.

sounds good =D maybe there's one vampire and the others are victims..... the victims have to find special ammo to kill vampires.... vampires get stronger with killing a victim, they get faster and stronger.... normal players have to work in a team, that could improve the skill of the them =D
but whats about the weapons of the vampires??? maybe a "freeze-attack" so the victims can't move and then the final bite???^^

wtf a "freeze-attack"???? This is Soldat for crying out loud. Not some MMORPG that you found via popups while you were looking at porn. Soldat doesn't have magic, it has guns and people kill each other with them, not with some "freeze-attack".

In Timesplitters, vampire mode starts you out with full health. It's an ok gamemode, but I don't play it much.

Any less than half health, and I don't think it would be fair for people who are respawning, trying to go against full health sprayers, deaglers, and spassers (don't get me started on the Ruger). More people would reach for the M79/barret for a quick, easy leech.

I'm gonna say no.

I would have to disagree with that. Like by a lot.

Meeeh...
That'd be awesome for zombiematches.

Yeah, that's true, one kill would restore a lot of health...
What if it were altered in this way: what if you start out with about 75% HP and slowly regain health?
No, that would encouage camping......

No it isn't not by default.
But you do haev a point, noobs and newbs would be more than willing to leech a couple of health points off a team member.
But this can be easily avoided by 'disabling' the effect on teammates.

Yes, you have a point, but how are jets on your feet, games or capture and hold the flag, being invisible, and getting a 4X damage powerup related to war?
Plus, you don't HAVE to use it....

I don't see how a 'vampire mode' is magic enough to prevent it from appearing in Soldat. It's no more magic that a flamethorwer appearing in your hands along with temporary invulnerability, invisibility, or a 4X damage bonus.
I would really like to see this idea in Soldat, although it wouldn't be used much.
But now, thinking about it, it would be better if you still started with full health and regained maybe 10% of your maximum health when you kill, not hurt, an enemy.
Oh, and just so you know, I'm suggesting a mode, not a gametype. A gametype is like Ramomatch, Teammatch, etc. A mode is like survival mode, realistic mode, and advance mode.

Hmm... I'm not sure what state of mind I was in during my previous post.

I actually think it would be an interesting addition. As a mode, I don't see any reason for not including it. I'm pretty sure that a fair number of people would enjoy it, as long as it's implemented properly (duh).

I certainly agree with the idea of starting with full health. Any less would be an unfair disadvantage for barret/m79 users.

I'm on the wall about regaining health, whether it should be when you damage, or when you kill. Personally I prefer when you damage.. the battles last longer and create more excitement, IMO, though I'm sure that some people will disagree with me here. I know it seems a bit silly, constantly leeching each other's health, but I find it quite enjoyable, having longer battles.

Lastly, I don't know what to think about health packs. In a DM, they probably should be omitted, but in CTF, INF, maybe they should be left in... opinions?

There are no vampires in vampire mode...  ::)

I like timesplitters vampire mode, we could have it as a base to work out from...

TS vampire mode is like this:

All the players have then a certain number of lives, so when they run out of lives, theyre out of the game...

You then start with full health wich slowly decreases throughout the entire match (when it reaches zero, youll die and it counts as an sucide), and then youll have to kill other players in order to fill your health up again....

Last man/woman/thing alive is the winner...

Wow... I completely forgot about that bit.... that must be left out, because it would really suck. Having your health constantly decrease is really not fun. Maybe if it was really slow, like 30 seconds to die, otherwise it's horrible *shivers*.

Well thats why the players will have to move their arses and play, would probably prevent camping alot... :P
