Portal crashing

Portal crashes on my friend's computer every 5-15 minutes. It's a quite powerful computer with XP. It just had its graphic card driver updated. The crashes are in no way connected to each other, but audio starts looping every time it crashes.

EDIT: So uh yeah, do you know what's the problem?

How powerful?

XP isn't exactly hard to run... I mean it's not like it's Vista or anything. Post the system specs and I might be able to tell you.

Portal is a brilliant game, unfortunately my PC's processor is too old to run it.

Could be an audio driver problem, or some other driver; ensure all drivers, not just video card, are up to date.

Specs are enough, everything is up to date, except that audio driver for which I'm not sure. That'll have to wait tomorrow.
