Barretters are haters?

Steyr is the most used weapon in CW and gather, i think something there says its not the hardest auto to use Boots...

Steyr can take a bit of getting used to if you're coming from another auto, which can make it seem harder.

It's really simple, guys. Point and shoot. If you don't see anyone around, fire down the map!

The only weapon I find annoying is m79 - because sometimes I can't really see it on some maps


The one weapon which I don't really enjoy using are the desert eagles, maybe I haven't spent enough time with them

I'm a marksman by trade. By that, I mean that I make heavy use of the Barrett/Ruger/Law. And, obviously, my biggest pet peeve is rushers with autos who spray like they're blind. Bink is, and always will be, my worst enemy.

It's just the way that the lower level barreters die that annoys the player, up to the extent that they become haters.

Imagine sitting in a bush, waiting happily for the next player that comes along. Suddenly a hail of gunfire rapes your ass from behind. And your desperate one last shot against the attacker was binked. And then as you respawn the same guy who killed you does it again in your base, before you even manage to clock your barret to shoot.

It can get pretty frustrating, and you can feel very helpless at times.
I guess it's just a way of people to channel the frustration.

So I strongly recommend all players to stop spraying at bushes, please just stand
there and get shot please. Help stop the hating of the barretters...!!

What I dont like about fighting barreters/m79'ers is their style of playing.

I am quite a good realistic barret user, and never insult anyone, as such. When I get killed by an auto I don't even think twice about it. The only thing that can get me pissed is having some ally doom me by shielding the enemy, so I have taken it to my policy to shoot trough them, if at all possible to get the bullet to hit the foe too.

If someone is annoyed by my weapon, and has the guts to call me on it, I call them a gun abuser.

The thing what i say when i get killed is "damn", only it, i don't name them N00bs or minigun noob, only if he is named "Major", sure, and i never shot through my ally, lol... i just wait for my friend go away of the enemy to shot and put a bullet (If possible) into enemy's head.

Imo there aren't players who are noobs just because of the weapon they use. If someone uses Barret and practises hit&run, I don't complain because this is what you have to do (at least kind of) if you wanna survive. M79-players have to get quite close to enemies, otherwise they would hardly hit them. It's just the way this game has to be played. And there's a counter tactic for every of these ones, so what? :x
Of course, there are also some things annoying me, like spraying, especially with (semi)automatic weapons, sniping, camping and so on, but that's part of the game. I just think that you shouldn't use these tactics too often because that reduces the fun you can experience while playing (imho), and sprayin' is the thing I really hate (maybe cause I'm playin since 1.1.5 and there wasn't so much spray at that time), but the only consequence is, that I don't spray (and my favourite weap is steyr).

Conclusion:

There is no such thing as a noob weapon in Soldat.  It's only how it's used.

Noob = Sprays bullets randomly in hopes of hitting a target.
Non-noob = Fires with precision and can hit people from great distances.

Noob = Point blank m79 shot all the time.
Non-noob = Someone who fires 1 well aimed m79 blast and hits you from 100 feet away.

Annoying as it is, spraying is legal just like camping. Anyone who complains should shut up and play the game or leave. It's part of SOLDAT you can't stop it. Also, for every spraying auto-user there is a camping barret-user somewhere so snipers shouldn't complain.

I find that for some reason it gives a lot of satisfaction hiding in the bushes and snipe the helpless players.

but even camping, well at least good sniping can be effective in ctf match.
the point is that we're just annoyed by players who merely use it as an easy kill weapon.

Having been a prolific barret user myself, I can attest to how aggrivating aforementioned spray can be. However, spray is one of the tactics that can be used to overcome a barreter.


In regards to the "hating", this definitely depends on the player doing it, and their personality. The reason for the hating might be that the barret is very powerful, and it's users act as such. Consequently, whenever they lose or get killed by an effective tactic, they can be more prone to whining.


However, that is just my psychological analysis, and as I said before: It all depends on the player.

Not really... a skilled Barretter will just take cover, poke his head out for a second and knock you off, unless there's no cover around and he's caught in the open, in which case he might still be able to kill you or he might switch to a secondary (USSOCOM or Combat Knife) and try and get you.

Spraying Majors... Bane of the barretard.

Whenever theres tons of Barreters around, I switch to the mp5. If I can fire off ONE shot at them first, they're practically helpless since even switching to a socom will cost them a precious second in which I can feed most of a clip into them.
