Notepad++
« on: February 21, 2008, 01:11:09 am »
Just thought i'd introduce you soldat-scripters (or wannabes ) to Notepad++[/cheering].

Its quite handy, and is a great alternative to using notepad, as it highlights all the things like 'for' loops, and you can hide all the code in functions, it has tabs and much more....

On top of that it supports at least 50 (I haven't actually counted) of the most common programming languages (including pascal) and is free.

Feel free to tell us about other good programs as well :p

Yep, this program is extremely useful. I use it to code anything and everything whenever I'm on windows. A huge-arse portion of TMS was created with this sexy editor.

I use Notepad++ for "lighter" work and Komodo Edit or Aptana Studio for more serious tasks. For Soldat Scripting Notepad++ is more than enough.

hmm, that seems pretty nice. Much different from npp, but looks just as functional and usable, perhaps even more visually appealing. Seems to be better than what I usually use on linux (gedit). I'll code in it for a week to see if I'll switch to it or not.

My favourite is Emacs, with no doubt in my mind. It's unfortunately somewhat hard to get used to (it takes some time to learn the most important commands), but it's one of the most powerful editors Ive ever used - and it's fast too!
