Lol, like it's important..
If there is going to be a giant change to Soldat i hope it are the graphics.
If you can't run Soldat you probably can't open IE/FF and MSN Messenger at the same time.

Actually, I can run basically anything... I can run some low-req 3D games like Anarchy Online and Wolfenstein, or any other game as long as my video card supports it, with a little bit of lag, while running msn, aim, firefox, etc...

And I still get major FPS lag in Soldat, especially on large maps, or when I am on fire from lava polygons (to a point where nothing moves on my screen until the animation is over) - overall it is the coding of Soldat that is causing the problems, and I am certain of that. My system reqs are in the first part of this thread if you think it is just because of my computer.

Does ststem requirements metter now? In "old times" most people looked first at it when getin' game but today most people have better PC's that can run almost everything.

I remember that when I had old PC (800 mHz CPU, Geforce 2, 128mb ram) I even couldn't play cs and sometimes Stick Soldiers was lagin'. But now when I buy game I check the requirement's when it's already in my basket.

Imo we should go foward with the gfx, sfx and overal quality of Soldat. It's fantastic 2D game and with more advanced gfx it can get really god.

It is getting heavier for 2 reasons. First is the custom maps are really graphically intensive, that's not my fault. Second is the font rendering change in 1.4, it's a bit slower. But hey the world progresses. Does anybody still play Soldat with a machine before 2002?

I have an old retro rig from 98 that is still faster than what Soldat requires and plays any map smoothly. Plus I love old machines. Dime a dozen and fun projects to fix up and get working. My better current rig can handle Unreal 3, but I still prefer Soldat.

Haha, I forgot this was an old thread and I even replied on it before. :P >.< So not paying attention today. To answer PaFel's question. No I think now, requirements don't matter anymore. Here in Canada it's cheap, as in a few $20's and you can pick up a machine that has at least 128MB integrated video. Not so great for 3d games newer than Half Life 1 level, but with decent ram (at least twice what your version of windows requires, eg. 256MB for WinXP, then you should have at least 512MB to run smoothly), Soldat should be like butter.

as I said in the first post on this page, it SHOULD run like butter. It doesn't though unless you have a system better than what should be needed.
