Layout suggestions for http://tms.jrgp.org
« on: June 19, 2008, 12:06:02 pm »
After a year of roughly the same layout / design for The Soldat Mapping Showcase, I decided to completely rewrite it with new ideas. I think it looks better, but it reminds me much more of a software developer's blog than a gaming site.

Here is the link to the site with the new url: http://tms.jrgp.org
Clicking this toggles the new layout on and off, so you can see the old one: http://tms.jrgp.org/?act=layout_switch

I'd really appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Thanks for anything in advance,
jrgp

The new one... is as if you just used contrast adj. in PS and turned down the brightness. U13 skin header font sucks, and if I have time I'm probably going to have to make you a new TMS header anyways >.>

Possible to retain the brightness of the original but keep the new cells?

What do you mean? Morph the colors of the old one into the new? And btw, there are no cells. I don't make sites out of shitty tables.

I can call them cells if I want in my sheer ignorance. What am I supposed to call them then? Uh... borders? I like the rounded borders. And yes, just make the overall color scheme more contrasty. Or change the background to like, say RGB 50:70:55 or something [trying to mix off the top of my head] and change font to 240:240:200?

Ok. Well, which layout are you saying to change the contrast and text color? The new one or the old one with the already rounded borders and theme changer?

Looking at the new one, I'd say the spot that needs the most reorganizing would be that user login spot.

Yeah, that's really annoying me. Do you have any ideas for it? Would it be too much too much if I asked you to wip up a better version in Paint?

Ya I don't really know either. But one thing I think you should do for sure is make the register link a button and place it next to the Login button.

I liked the rounded edges. Make the login thing on a new page, with a button on the home page to log in. Keep it simple.
