Yes, those lines and the gray background make it an eyesore. The text looks cool, but as Boots said, make it transparent.

Also, I see you're using low quality JPEG, which doesn't support transparency at all. Use PNG if you want transparency.

Oftentimes PNG at that size, especially alpha PNGs, go well over the 20kB limit. My sig is a GIF and it still went over 20kB until I made the compression more lossy. :\

I think they should up the size limit for sigs to 30kBs at least.
