Wow... I am astounded. The first thing I did was consult the integrated help, chose internet, setting up a connection. I did what it said and guess what, it works! Unlike the lousy windows help you get. Everything works fine, I never have to see the username and password screen again, it's just so nice. I just noticed that some apps tend to load slower, but those are some like add/remove and preferences, administration stuff.I won't be touching XP anytime soon now... thanks for all the help I got here people
Actually, I think FLAB made subliminal messages all over this forum, and plans to take over the world with Lin.Anyway, I almost convinced a couple of friends to switch on ubuntu. Most of them don't even play much games, just browsing the internet, and instant messaging. One more question though, could Crysis be played using Wine? And if it could, atleast theoretically, how big of a performance hit would it be?
afaik, ATI only just started releasing a lot of Linux drivers. The one in the Ubuntu repository might not be the most recent version, I have no idea. You can try downloading and installing the latest ATI driver for your card here:http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

I believe the games he posted about in the thread are not using wine, as they can run natively on linux.
