I googled this, couldnt find any freeware for making sfx or anything.

Plz give me some freeware programs i can use..   

I have a voice recorder that records .WAV on my mp3 player, but its small, and very poor quality, just like the one i have on my laptop, so is there any hope of me using them at all? any freeware "audio smoothing" things out there?

Don't most modders find sounds of the internet and/or snip parts from videos? audio? cause thats what i'd do, insted of recording my own sounds.

yeah but i wanna like, get a rough sound and edit it with something to make my own unique kinda gunshot...

Search for Audacity, quite a few modders use it to edit sounds.

It allows you to import multiple sounds and splice them together, edit their equalization, add bass change volume etc...
