Reloading and other tricks
« on: April 15, 2008, 03:21:33 am »
Is it possible to reload while switching weapons? (i.e. constantly holding down Q) For example, after someone has just shot an M79, he switches between the M79 and his secondary constantly and after a while, he can shoot again.. Or am I just seeing things?  :-\

Also, how about the spas reloading? I know you can reload after every shot so you will you always have full ammo; but does that mean you have to hold the R button down? If so, how do you move properly when your index finger is occupied doing this?
I've also seen people reloading when not even shooting - just standing or walking. Like, you can see the action of the spas reloading and the sounds even after they have full ammo. How does that work and what's the advantage?  ???

Finally, on this soldat video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1iDTqJrVpk it shows how you can shoot barret/minigun without the start-up time by switching between secondaries or something.. Again, how would you do this?

Does anyone else have some tips or tricks?

Thanks in advance.  :)

It shouldn't be possible to reload your primary while your secondary is on hand. No startup time for Barret? That'd probably be an older version of Soldat. No startup time for Minigun? That's probably fake (I haven't watched the entire video, but I couldn't hear any sound from the video).

To answer your question on Spas:

No. If you want to reload your Spas, simply hitting R (reload key) once will automatically allow you to reload all the way until you have maximum ammo. You can shoot while reloading, though it will not only cancel your reload, but also, your shooting angle will be very awkward and will always be directly infront of you.

To cancel out of a shotgun reload, Tap E (your grenade button). Yes, TAP, don't hold down. If you hold down you'll throw a grenade if you have any. Tapping the grenade button does not let you throw a nade and also cancels your reload, which can be useful to get out of the reloading state and quickly aim properly. This is a useful trick in combat.

Spas reloading non-stop? Shoot (HOLD DOWN the shoot button) and then hold down Reload (I think tapping the reload button also works). This is a useless trick meant to show off or make yourself look cool. Doing this in a real situation only works if you want to deceive your opponent, but chances are, you'll get killed even faster.

Holding down the reload button with the spas and firing the second the reloading animation has finished gives you infinite ammo. The downside is that it's hard to aim, move, and hold the reload key at the same time, and it will just fire straight ahead if you are at less than 7 ammo or if you press fire before the animation has finished. Works great for spas boosting regardless, and wouldn't be very cumbersome if you set reload to space bar and hold that down with your thumb, although I tried that and it's hard to get used to.

Either way, I hope this is fixed next version. It's pretty abusable.

Doing infinite ammo with spas also reduces the fire frequency which is a very bad thing for a 2-3 hit weapon.

What your seeing is people with 2 M79's. It looks like they are just switching to the secondary and back, but it is 2 different guns.

That video was 1.3 era. There was a bug to give you no delay on barrett, law and minigun. It was also called "Precharging" Which involved you holding fire untill it was just about to shoot, and switch to secondary. Then you would hold the fire button and switch back to your rett/law/minigun and you could fire it instantly. It has since been fixed.

As for you seeing people switching guns all the time when they are reloading, thats a lag bug, they really arent switching that much, it just looks like they are.
