So far, it's pretty good. Right now, I'm downloading some media codecs to listen to music to test my sound drivers.
I'm using the latest version of Hardy, released yesterday.
Nothing really prompted the switch, my dad was using it, he liked it and suggested it to me. Mainly, I'm doing it for security and to learn it. Invariable, people who install Ubuntu become smarter than they were before they installed it. It's just fact.

Yeah, to get compiz to work, I'd need to fix my graphics drivers. Right now, they're on the fritz.

I have some trouble running compiz on xubuntu, adn it interferes with 3d games. Nevertheless, way better than any vista crap ever made.

Can you run Soldat?

I honestly haven't tried yet, I'm still getting the essentials downloaded. I haven't even messed with Wine yet.

An Nvidia Geforce. I don't remember the model number off hand.

Anyway, I've gotten the video drivers installed and I can now use Compiz. It runs smoothly with little to no trouble.

You may be able to get Soldat working pretty decently in Wine.  If you try, I'd be interested to hear what you find (though post about that in the Soldat+Linux thread in GD, not here) ;)
