I'm not completely sure but aren't the extra transparency snazzy special effects only on the "premium" versions of Vista?

You still need 1 GB RAM to make even Basic run without 5mins of loading time in MS Word, IE etc. Where did you get your computer? I recommend you to send a email to them and name your computer name and ask for the same type of RAM. You should also make sure how many slots you have on you computer.

Who actually follows that? I have never heard anyone have a problem with two different brands of ram.

Thats a shit computer, so I am going to assume you use lappy DDR2 ram, get 40 bucks together and buy 2  1 gig sticks of ram put them in the ram slots, if it doesn't have enough slots for the 512 stick sharpen an edge and use it as a throwing knife.

i need atleast 1 giga to run vista basic!!!!
