Vertical sync is what's preventing the screen from chopping on LCD monitors. It uses more system resources to be able to do so. Haven't heard of it existing in soldat though.
Some people belive it can cause 'mouse lag' or something which is the main reason why alot of people don't use it even if their computer is capable of playing whatever game at above the refresh rate of the moniter consistantly.
It's opposite. it makes your mouse smoother because you get unlimited fps.
