Correct Poly Structure Help!
«
on:

Hello all, i have just started taking a liking to making maps (climb mostly) and when i play my maps i get some really dodgy polys that when i walk over/jump on i bounce. is there a tutorial on some nice structure to stop this from happening in climb maps that i could look at?
Thanks!

If you are bouncing on the middle of polygons:
Make sure that they aren't overlapping any others.
Move them (or the whole map) just a bit and recompile.
If you are getting stuck/bouncing between polygons:
Make them overlap a tiny bit at the verticies.

Is there a pattern like triangles or squares that work well?

Do it simple?
Then move vertices around? I dunno, you're better than me at this

I guess that's the basics. Don't forget to do the cushiony polys in the concave parts of poly blobs, they prevent polybugs.

I'm saying that's how you should arrange your polygons. I provided two examples. Terrain, and buildings.
Are you using Soldat MapMaker? If that is the case, you should try
Soldat Polyworks (click here)
. It's a very good editor, and the maps compile better, without the bouncy polygons.
