[request] A map is needed badly

I'm not sure if you mappers read the modding section for graphics so I feel like posting this here. I would post it in the "The Drawing Board" topic but I think it'll be better here incase a discussion will be made.

So here is the thing, I've made a subgame mode idea which i call Extraction Point for now. I've managed to get a scripter interested but he needs the map(which is in that topic) to fully make the code. So if anyone feels like he's up for the task I'd be very grateful.

A general idea:
-So I've provided you with a basic map layout so you should know how i want it to look.
-It should be larger at some places just so the game doesn't end too fast.
-The map should be dark but not pitch black.
-I think that a design like the trenchmaps is a good direction when it comes to scenery and shading.
-some fog effects in the forest area could be nice.
-the large building(interior) should have a few light sources and with dim lightning. The safehouses on the other hand should have a stronger light source.

Of course you can make it differently if you feel that it's going to be better I'm just giving some guidelines and suggestions.

If no one feels like it then could someone maybe upload some scenery that would fit my description. I'll try and make it myself.

So it has been several days, and no mapper. I said that I might PM you, but I think I'll ask all of my questions here.

-What time of day should the map take place in? For it to be somewhat fair to the players, there has to be a decent amount of lighting.

-Shall the bigger building be some sort of office building? I guess that couldn't altogether work, since the area around it would have to correlate with the office building... What type of building should it be then; some sort of ruined citadel?

-How long would you want the stretches between buildings to be? And, what would you want to occupy that in-between space?

Since this is your map, I want your ideas. Whether or not I map this, it all depends. If someone else with a more definite desire wants to do this, feel free to subject a response.

It shouldn't be very dark as that's boring. I was thinking that it the lightning should be around early morning. However if possible make it a little lighter where the roof top is with the helicopter/escape thingy.

This is how I pictured it in my mind: The first place is a cabin in the woods, the next building is in between the woods and the beginning of a street, the street should have some cars that are on fire or burned and lastly the the big building should be a somesort of office building.

An other thing, in the office building there should be a few tables/chairs/desks that some of the players can stand on as it would only be two players on the ground covering front and back.

They should be fairly long, at least so long that the players can blast through zombies and get to the next safehouse and resupply(not so easy to know exactly without playing but I can always tweak the weapons after the map). An other thing to have in mind is how long should a game be. I was thinking something between 5-10 minutes. though I think that an other safe house might be needed somewhere on the map.

As said the first stretch is in the woods and I want some trees and maybe some mist, a small hill or so, grass and stumps.

The second stretch is a street/road, with derbish, a 1-3 cars(maybe that you could stand on and walk under), some road signs maybe.

Well, I could just follow the basic design that you drew out for the overall layout. I really don't have anymore questions... some windows in the office building would provide a little morning light of course, and a few dim lights as well would do the trick.

We do have waypoints to tinker with. But we can discuss it after you finish the other elements of the map.

I hate making office buildings because there is so much little scenery that should go into one. I luckily found a decent source for my office-building scenery.

I won't completely slather it with detail, but I'll try to make it look someone logical, and partly ruined (worse looking as you go up). I will try to put the gameplay into the player's favor as much as I can (since it'll be 4-6 people against a horde), and I'll add a few nice places to snipe/spray from... I guess I ought to focus on design first ::).

Maybe I'll extract a few ideas on how to lay out the rooms in the building from Half-Life, since you're indoors in Black Mesa 95% of the time.

You're the mapper and if you think you can/want to make other type of building interiors then do that. I just give you pointers how I had imagined it, maybe yours is even better.

I hope you'll have fun doing it :)
