Yeah compaq is real good. The only problem I had with one of them is that the dvd dirve wasn't working, so i had to take it back and get a new one :)

Dell for the win! :D

Try the inspiron 6400 :)

2 GB ram, 120 GB or disk space (or 80 GB depending on model). Duo Centrino :o

$1200 about (Canadian) (with the good stuff :)). I'm not sure about the Finnish currency, but if it's anything close to the GBP, then this should be fairly cheap for you.

Compaq!
Lmao, I have a Compaq... it's average. Very average. :P 512 Ram, ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics card. Sucks for games. It's has all the original parts from the store. (Staples) I want to upgrade as soon as I get a job, but no one will hire me. >.>

Just like my Compaq! (presario V2000 I bet!)

I play some games on it fairly ok, but its better as a paperwaeight at the moment (taken it to the repair shop 4 times in the last 3 months because of hard drives xD)

EDIT: Mate, if you want cheap laptops http://www.cyberpowerpc.com is great. As another member pointed out. I just built a real good laptop (not really, I mean...chose the bits and pieces that went into it) on there, and look:

Look at the PRICE!

Wow ds dude your finally right about something. First off there cheapest model comes with an intel processor, even though an amd porceesor with the same price is way better. Hell, a sempron is better. Then it has some intel graphics accelerator crap, 80 gb hard drive and 256 mb RAM. Yay for them. And still it's $300 when it should be half that.

People laugh at you if you bring a laptop to a lanparty. I know.

Don't get a laptop for the above reason, and also because they burn the front of your upper leg thingies, don't like being upgraded, and can't be customized for shit.

What are you talking about? It costs more then it's AMD counter part, and the AMD counterpart performs better.

And just because conroe is now the best, doesnt mean that intel has the best processors all of the sudden.

Uh? Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 outperforms Athlon64 FX-62 in most games now. Even the Core 2 E6600, clocked at 2.4 GHz outperforms the FX-62, clocked at 2.8GHz.

Source.

AMD chips are great, but they're not as well constructed as Intel. I know I had one die after about a year and have seen similar reviews and reports on-line stating such. Not the case with everything, of course -- just like how people say Matrox is a "cheap" hard drive brand that don't last as long as Seagate and others, though all mine Matrox HDs are still performing great.
