Soldat to the Wii
« on: September 17, 2008, 03:15:26 pm »
Hello Everyone

Do you think it could be possible to put Soldat into the Wii?
Of course not as a official game, I say only to be downloadable as a "WiiWare" game.

The controls could be very easy to adapt.

Could be a great idea or not?

The Wii does not support DirectX, which Soldat requires. Soldat is written in Delphi, which cannot create a Wii compatible binary. And further more, MM himself has stated that he will not attempt to port Soldat to any game console.

Only way of doing this would be to create a Soldat "clone" for the Wii or to try running Soldat under Wii Linux with Wine.

Soldat on wii? It'll be harder to aim/control.... I mean with that laser projecting remote? Hell I can't even aim steady with that controller!

Hmm, I can keep it still at least :D
I guess if it somehow happened, barrett would be the only weapon ever used.  Constantly adjusting aim would be horrible.

I think the controls still could be easy to adapt:

Pointer: Aim
B: Shoot
C: Reload
Rumble the Nunchuck(Like a wheel): Grenade
Z:Jet Pack
D-pad: Other Options (Changing Weapons For example).
Analog stick: Move

Just one of the controls, I mean that could be some other ways to put the controllers to work exactly as in the computer.

Again, discussing this is a waste of time unless you are planning on making the game, becuase it will never happen as of right now.
(It wouldn't be that hard, games like red steel do it fine and they are 3-D, controls I mean)

That would look crazy when you cavort around with that controller.

The Official Suggestions Sticky

The Don't-Suggest List[/b]

[...]

Soldat will never be programmed for portable consoles/machines, or probably even regular gaming consoles (Michal doesn't have the money nor the time to do so, and even then gameplay probably would flop on such systems. Although if you want to use Soldat on Linux, feel free to help with the Soldat Wine project.)
Please, read the stickies and search first. You might find your idea has been mentioned before.
