Simple question
« on: September 20, 2008, 08:34:10 am »
What's minigun used for? I think, if alot of players uses that like a self-speed-booster, it should not be like a weapon, but like a some item (so, like some speeder). I think, there's only 3% of people using that like a weapon to shoot some other players down. Minigun is basically weapon, and I think, that if you want to make it good, you should put there speed like in real, and remove its boost thingy. It's only mine opinion.

[AK-74]
Do you remember the 1.3.1 weapon mod? I like it.. I think, it's good, that it's faster now, but I liked it a bit slower, much stronger and a bit larger fire distance.

[Steyr-AUG]
Well, if you want to decrease steyr's bullet count, maybe you should increase its damage.

[HK MP5]
What about to put in it a bit larger fire distance?

[SOCOM]
Same like on HK MP5. Larger fire distance.

Well, these are only my opinions.

- Sorry for my bad english :)

We all liked the AK from 1.3.1. The problem is that it was incredibly efficient at spraying. So it had to be nerfed, Although I would like to reduce the offscreen bullet damage by 50% instead of nerfing the AK.

I actually liked the AUG from 1.3.1, It wasn't incredibly popular but it had its niche.

As for HK, its a no no, we like specialized weapons.

I do think that we should specialize the minigun into a boosting machine instead of a killing machine, but that is just me.

I also remember that back in 1.3.1 a noob could hit a pro moving while being binked, now a pro while moving in air without being binked can't hit a noob.

Minigun isn't a weapon which is supposed to kill others, it's more like boosting machine or something like that.

[AK-74]
Do you remember the 1.3.1 weapon mod? I like it.. I think, it's good, that it's faster now, but I liked it a bit slower, much stronger and a bit larger fire distance.
Ak should stay as it is. It would be almost like minimi (but without 4 moveacc), so.. no.

[Steyr-AUG]
Well, if you want to decrease steyr's bullet count, maybe you should increase its damage.
No... we wanna nerf it, and increasing dmg would make it even more overpowered.

[HK MP5]
What about to put in it a bit larger fire distance?
So it would be like 2nd Steyr... no.

[SOCOM]
Same like on HK MP5. Larger fire distance.
I think that socom is ok atm.

It's pretty good when you're in the right place at the right time

Yeah, some people use it quite a bit in CW's or gathers, when they are down, and they need a quick cap, if their is only a few seconds left.

Even though I don't like the gun, it's still part of Soldat :)

If we increase MP5 shooting distance, it'd be a bit too good due to fire rate.
As for the aug, no, because it's being nerfed for a reason :D

The AK... you gotta admit that the 1.3.1's AK was nicely done. It's pretty unique, slow and powerful and yet amazingly accurate, though it was pretty overpowered in some sense. Now, the AK's pretty similar to the Minimi. It has 2 movementacc and shoots faster but slightly less damage per shot and not so much self-bink (which hasn't affected the AK anyway). However, the Minimi's also received a change in having a +2 movementacc and less self-bink too. And if you think about it, now the AK and Minimi are still quite different (though not as much as that during 1.3.1). One is more specialized (Minimi), the other is more versatile (AK).

Minigun? It's a support gun, now and probably forever, though it is true that it needs a boost which it would receive. It's the only auto where bullet push isn't really affecting it much since it has increased bullet speed and firing rate to allow it to have the same bullet push as now despite the fact that all guns will have a 75% bullet push in future.

Steyr Aug... I tried increasing its damage even by just 1. The damage change was a really tremendous difference. The other way is to change the bullet speed, but it won't do. I won't have any comments since the bullet push has been part of the Aug's strongest edge, but it may lose it. I'd say, just leave it as it is and see how the bullet push is like first.

The current MP5? Longer range/more bullet speed is a NO NO. It'd become a Steyr Aug number 2. The MP5 stays as a short-ranged auto of speed and easily controllable (it's easy to use, easy to control the recoil and has little self-bink). The older MP5 used to have much higher damage but more self-bink though. Bullet push is going to be reduced, so I worry that the MP5's getting nerfed pretty heavily as a result.

Socom is fine. It's good enough as a secondary. It's a very situational secondary, and the only one that doesn't kill in 1-hit. Bullet push may affect it.

Minigun may SUCK usually. But I've tried out in one of the pubs, and man, I got MultikillX2 with it. Don't underestimate this gun, it might be hard getting used to kill people with this, but if  you get the hang of it, it will definitely ruin the player's game.

Maybe the minigun should be made into a special weapons? You can get it on the map or you must have X kills to be able to take it? Some restriction, but making it more...minigun worthy?

And the point is?  Noone uses it already, why make it hard to get?  Whereas in CTF if there's 20 seconds left, you've just died, you want easy access to that minigun to have a chance of capping... no need to make it harder to get

There is no need for such a restriction in any gun, especially minigun. Unless you want to play Advanced mode.

Platehead has basically said it all about that.
