Hiya, over the past few months I became more and more annoyed with the pre defined and guaranteed-to-be-the-same experience with every MMORPG that is out there. The major ones, that is. They somehow all feel the same, they aren't bad and even are nice to play, but I buy new games because I expect new/better experiences. When I got myself WAR few days ago, it all boiled over. The same more or less slow movements, idiotic UI and worse or less detailed graphics than expected. The fighting relayes the well known feeling you already got from WoW or GW or what ever game that has skills and abilities to be clicked or hotkeyed.
What I was and still am fervently wishing for is a MMORPG, that is fast paced and really intuitive. I don't want to click the same consecutive combo of icons again and again for 3 hours during a raid of 5 people. I want to be in a warband of at least 20 people, jumping in and out of battle, while outside regenerating my wounds, then helping my teammates healing theirs. Freely and yet realistic use of First Aid in battle, using my superpowers to throw that goddamn tree in that monster's eye, the falling leaves giving cover for my squad or letting that rock roll down a hill to irritate any possible enemy.
If a arm is slashed, depending on the hit I won't be able to hold this broadsword, now I have to use a dagger, sai or maybe some kind of thrown.
A broken leg permits no movement of it, but I can still jump with the other leg. Or kick. This could go on and on.
My point till now is, that I have been spending many months playing with the thought of developing a game like that. But I am a noob and have no idea where to start, or better how to start. I may write it all on paper, but what's next? etc. etc.
So this thread has the purpose of giving me info and answers to my first questions.
Someone who knows a good link to another related forum? Please post it, I'm waiting for it.
Any ideas or links to companies that sell or freely make good softwares useful for my intention, a PM please. Thanks a lot
