Project for school: Crimson Island
« on: October 03, 2008, 04:19:29 pm »
http://www.jrgp.org/joe/crimson_island/

Hey, I had to make a little webpage for my Web Design class about an island I was stranded upon. I had to do it in Macromedia Dreamweaver MX (2003 version) and Macromedia Fireworks. I mainly only used DW's Source Code View since the WYSIWYG editor it has sucks and I'm much more proficient in editing the code by hand.

What do you all think of it? Good? Bad?

If anyone wants to use the layout for a clansite or something, be my guest.

To be honest, it almost sounds like the next 4chan.

Hence,

Joe Crimson's birth name is believed to be Joe Gilloti

It is thought that Chuck Norris is the biological father of Joe

You spelled "geniuses" wrong and used "soul" where "sole" might have worked better. I use "better" loosely as neither of them make any sense in what is already a train wreck of a paragraph.

You really have a problem as far as using exotic words where they just don't work.

*edit* Also, lose the Chuck Norris bit. It sucks, and even if it didn't it's going off on a wild tangent.

I attend grammar school, last grade, and ignorance is all around me. Well, good for them. Ignorance is bliss.

Real men make websites in notepad.

I don't know... it seems very random and directionless. Plus Crimson Island is just a little bit too close to Crimsonland...

Your navigation bar looksv really out of place with the rest of the site, and isn't accessible at all. I'd suggest increasing the size of the text. The background could use a change, though I have no quarrels with your colour scheme.
The content is pretty horrible though, but I think this was more a topic to critique layout.

What's wrong with Dreamweaver?

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

Yeah.. the 2002 version too. I'm only using it as a code editor, which it isn't horrible at. Its syntax highlighting could be a lot worse. Though I have to admit, it was pretty fun getting to use Fireworks again.

notepad + handcoding >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> dreamweaver and any other WYSIWYG editor
Using notepad to edit code or anything big that isn't "notes" is extremely impractical. Whenever I make a website or a program outside of school I use NotePad++ or Geany.

er... http://jrgp.us, http://jrgp.org. http://tms.jrgp.org, http://soldat.jrgp.org anyone? Whenever I do something I care about I use standards compliant XHTML strict or transitional. Period. Don't go calling me a lover when you've only seen a minuscule portion of my work.
