Favorite Bond Film
« on: November 08, 2008, 08:48:03 pm »
A new Bond flick is coming out (is out?) and quite frankly I don't really like the new Bond. Casino Royale was pretty boring. So I was just wondering, what is your favorite Bond film? Mine's You Only Live Twice because it has ninjas, followed closely by Goldeneye (I had seen it waaaaay before I had ever played the game). Pierce Brosnan is probably my favorite Bond because I grew up with him, but Sean Connery is a close second.

Goldfinger

End of topic?

Pierce was an ok bond, but he wasn't even close to the best. George Lazenby was worse, mostly because On her Majesty's Secret Service was such a shitty movie. Pierce's only really good scene was driving the tank through st. petersburg. You only live twice had an awful final scene, nothing can really beat Goldfinger, the whole movie was just so well done.

Which was the one where they had the waterfall and the asian guy gets those diamonds or whatever burnt into his face or something? that was my favourite I think. Pierce was kinda the benchmark for bonds to me, I've seen the old movies aswell (I think Sean Connery was one of the the first), but I always thought the Pierce Brosnan ones were better made (not that it really has anything to do with the actor himself)

I haven't seen Casino royale yet but it does look pretty awesome, might watch the new ones some time.

I hear the new one they've cut out all the girls and drinks and stuff and just made it an action movie, I dunno how that works but I can't say it would make the movie any worse..

I always said Pierce Brosnan was an awesome James Bond, but he was in some really crappy movies. GoldenEye is one of my favorite James Bonds, I thought that was great.. But Live And Let Die will forever be the one I like the most.

The original Casino Royale, if only because it made me feel like I had been taking acid all night.

The Man With The Golden Gun is always fun too.
Can always go for some Octopussy.

Roger Moore and Sean Connery are still the best Bonds imo. Pierce Brosnan did a great job for the 'modern' films, but by no way did he create a benchmark. The older films had a great deal more charm and wit, and filmmaking hurdles they had to actually work to jump over.

I thought live and let die was rather boring compared to Goldfinger or Diamonds are Forever, or even Dr. No

The only awesome Bond film is GoldenEye. Pierce Brosnan was an awesome Bond!

From the older movies I choose The Man with the Golden Gun & Goldfinger.

his movies were lousy, it was more special effects and lousy acting from most other actors, and the bond babes hot tub was horrifyingly limited and the gadgets were stupid.

I forgot to mention, one of the reasons why Goldfinger is probably my favorite of the "old" bond films is because of how much I like the book. It's awesomely written and has a bunch of uniquely cool parts like this:

"It was part of his profession to kill people. He had never liked doing it and when he had to kill he did it as well as he knew how and forgot about it. As a secret agent who held the rare double-O prefix - the license to kill in the Secret Service - it was his duty to be as cool about death as a surgeon."

There are a few good ones, but they seldom entertain me these days.

Live or Let Die was damn good... that or Goldfinger.
