Soldat 1.5 Radio Features
« on: September 09, 2008, 09:33:51 pm »
Ok guys, the radio seems a little dodgy from the perspective now...it needs a little working and fixing up on. I have posted some ideas below.

Firstly, There should be two options:

Key C: Should be for EFC's etc. Make them number coded too, like 1 - 8. 1 - EFC Escaping High, 2 - EFC Escaping low, etc more options would make peoples life easier.

Key V: This should be for, 1 -  Base Assistance, 2 - Enemy Spotted, and when you have said 2 - Enemy Spotted it should say something like. (Scarface: Enemy Spotted @ Low Tunnel etc.

Also, There should be an option if you press 0 it should exit the radio incase you made a mistake in pressing it, so you dont have to muck up.

The voice should be more realistic to a soldiers...like how Counter-Strike Source have got their radio system.

Press escape to exit the radio menu. That is all.

No, now most people have to put taunts as radio commands.

Yeah, these commands are good for the radio system. F12 to support!

What are you schizophrenic! I admit the sounds good be better but doesn't really bother me. I'm sticking to the fact that the radio system is fine that way it is.

F12 It would be more convenient then making your taunts as radio commands. Also it should be activated w/o confirmation. You don't want text popping up during a fire fight.

I'm still partial to the idea of radio, albeit I haven not tried it. Taunts are fast and efficient. If you want voice, you use Vent/TS anyway. Of course, an out-of-the-box voice messaging system is a neat feature that impresses newcomers, so I'm not saying no.

Just make it mappable under normal taunt keys (i.e. alt+x to activate any desired command). These should be also fully customisable, i.e. you should have the option to change the sound files at your discretion.

Lastly, a separate volume slider for voice commands. Currently you've got separate volume regulation for music and sfx - I say add one for voice commands too and it'll be peachy.

I suggest that EnEsCe puts a filter over the radio commands so it sounds more authentic that it's coming over a radio, rather than someone shouting to you over the internet.

Imagine a voice sounding like the Soldat doing /victory or dying doing the voice XD

I'm still supporting the idea in 1.5 since sometimes looking at the chat box can be a little difficult when I'm engaged in a firefight - I'd need sound.

One problem - I play without sound and play my own music. I'd also suggest that the voice sound has its own adjustable volume in the options.
