Suidice Module/Mode
« on: December 24, 2008, 09:01:51 am »
(Rough Draft. I can't retain every bit of this idea so edits may come and go)

"Your weapon is your life."

The idea is that once your ammunition is depleted then your life ends thus. With most weapons it can be prevented by simply reloading your weapon.

Suggestion for more of a challenge and enjoyment: This mode be active with both Realistic Mode and Team Kill. Survival Mode, Advance Mode and no team balance are options. Although it might not be as exciting for some, this mode provides an additional way for one to die, through the hasty depletion of ammunition in order to finish off your opponent. So the motivation of this mode, more so than realistic mode, is to discourage spraying. I'll go in a bit more detail about the causes of death with the individual weapons.

Conditions:
Code A: Once ammunition reaches Zero, the player dies.
Code B: After weapon reloads, it explodes. Drop it before then.
Code C: Not Applicable.
Code D: Not Applicable Until God Mode Expires.

Primary Weapons:
[01] A - Desert Eagles
[02] A - MP5
[03] A - AK-47
[04] A - Steyr Aug
[05] A - Spas 12 Shotgun
[06] A - Ruger
[07] B - M79
[08] A - Barret
[09] A - Minimi
[00] A - Minigun

Secondary Weapons:
[01] A - US-Socom
[02] C - Combat Knife
[03] A - Chainsaw
[04] B - M72 Law

Tertiary Weapons:
[01] C - Fist
[02] A - M2 Stationary Gun
[03] C - Grenades
[04] C - Cluster Grenades
[05] D - Flame Thrower

Complicated? Seems Annoying To Deal With? In my opinion, backwards teammates are more troublesome than the conditions I have been given to fight and die under. But please feel free to voice any opinions you may have regarding this. I am not always the best at articulating my ideas. And note that, for the reason just mentioned, this is a rough draft.

meh, if you want limited ammo you might try out my limited ammo weapons.ini. When you run out of ammo, the weapon reload time is set to 99999, so it doesn't reloads and you have to drop it. Quite close ideas. It might work with a script...

It is not limited ammunition that I am gunning for. It's the idea of controlling spray. The condition of death is an addition for the challenge and the main idea behind this. That is all. Hence the term suicide. That is where the mention of reloading your weapon comes into play, as the reload time should remain the same.

bad idea if you want to control the spraying. this mode could be fun as you'd always have to look for new guns. but wouldn't work as everyone would reload before they die, so the only weapon would be barrett.

You reload to prevent from dying. Dying on reload only applies to the m79 and the law.

I have a rough idea of what you're saying.

In this idea, you force a user to check his ammo carefully and not shoot it like mad, because if you use up all the ammo to 0, you will get killed, but if you reload before 0 ammo, you'll still be fine.

Unfortunately, it won't work for weapons with one ammo like the M79 and M72 LAW, Rambo Bow or Flamed Arrows. I don't understand why those single-shot weapons must be discarded immediately after one shot, it makes them useless - you can only shoot once and you can never use it again, so whats the point of using them unless you want to get yourself killed after shooting once? If you attempt to pick these weapons up after dropping it before reload is complete, you'll still reload the gun and go boom. Then these one-shot weapons are useless. You can't drop the bow, and they have only one ammo, so that means after you've killed 2 people you can't be a Rambo anymore.

I think this is a terrible idea. Yes, you are teaching users to watch their ammo and therefore teaching a certain level of discipline, and also teaching users to make every shot count, but you're also forcing users to NOT make use of every bullet they can have. Actually, it not only doesn't stop spraying since users can be very careful with their ammo with some practice, it also makes one-shot weapons and semi-auto weapons pieces of junk. There goes the balance.

Take a Ruger for instance. You only have 4 ammo, but each shot can deal a whole load of damage. Let's say you've missed 2 shots, but you hit one. It takes one more shot to kill that person. You would take your chance and shoot him and therefore killing him before he escapes, wouldn't you? If you reloaded, he could have picked up a medkit or ran away, or even killed you with his own weapon while you are reloading. That won't be fair at all.

I'm sorry, but this idea is very bad. Limited ammo is a much better solution than suicide. Especially with good players - it's more of a nuisance then a solution.

Additionally, with the Spas reload trick, you could easily abuse the mode and not worry about dying from reaching no ammo.

I think that the idea is good but the execution is bad. I think that the main problem is the fact that you have made the one shot weapons such as the m79 and the rambo bow one shot weapons which goes against what you want to do.

I agree with STM. Especially with this:
Limited ammo is a much better solution [to control spray] than suicide.
