Favorite Guitar Solo
« on: January 20, 2009, 08:29:21 am »
Yes, another favorite thread, but this is mostly a favor for me thread, 'cause I'm looking for some new material to learn on the guitar. I've learned many awesome solos, from Queen to In Flames, but very often I find them either boring or out of place (Listen to the solo on Beat It for an example of the latter) and I'm interested in finding some good ones.

Most good solos are rewarded with plenty of fame, but there are many that aren't, or are overlooked in spite of their pwn. I'm looking for those types, though when it boils down to nothing all solos are just Jimi rip-offs.

Some of my favorites:
CoB - Sixpounder (2:20)
Pantera - Cowboys from Hell (2:29)

I don't know if this would be my favorite favorite, but definitely in my top 10 is the acoustic intro to Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

After The Burial - Ometh

You only have to listen to 3:18 to the end.

I have many other favorites, but that's one that really sticks out to me these days.
