Try re-installing soldat, if you haven't. If you have, do it again. You would be surprised what re-installing can fix. Also, don't worry, you will still be registered.

If re-installation doesn't help, try turning absolutely everything off before playing, including spyware/virus protection. They might see something as a false positive and  be closing it out.

I already tried reinstalling twice. If it tripped off my antivirus or antispyware, whichever one it tripped would have notified me. I got no such notification...

Yes, my video driver is updated. I have the newest version of Direct X. I'm playing on a laptop, and I have all the drivers provided at the laptop's manufacturer's website. I just read that now, and none of the advice there helps...

Oh, why not test your reg key on another computer to see if it's the key's issue [I can't think of how the problem could stem from the key... but...]?

Well, it's not the individual key, or one of the two MM gave me would work, unless thru some stroke if incredibly bollocksty luck, both are bad. I already have a desktop, but I'm on the laptop a lot more due to portability and more RAM. Plus the desktop is probably about as old as Soldat, so it uses RD RAM, which is apparently really expensive. Also, while it definitely has enough ram to run Soldat, I use it as my server. Plus, I have no computer desk. I have no good place to put it where I can play games on it well and comfortably.

Nobody's really explained why registering would cause problems, though. regardless of what kind of computer, whether drivers are updated or not, etc, the problems should still be there when the game is unregistered. Registering doesn't change the drivers, but it obviously changes SOMETHING, or it should work. It makes perfect sense to me. If only one thing is changed, and problems arise, it's because of whatever was changed.

I just haven't gotten around to testing the key on another computer yet. In addition to using it as a server, my girlfriend uses it for IM. I just don't get on it much, and she does play soldat, but not often. Maybe I'll try it later tonight.

By the way, my laptop works just fine with a lot of stuff that's not MS office. I don't even have Office. I use notepad/wordpad, and I have no use for any of the other office programs.

Alright, try this:

Uninstall Soldat and delete the Soldat folder.

Click start, then hit run. In the dialog box, type regedit.

Click on HKEY CURRENT USER, then SOFTWARE, and look for Soldat. Right click and delete the entry. Restart your PC and install Soldat. Test it without the registration key first.

If that doesn't work, then you must consider any changes which have occured around the time the problem started. Did you install/uninstall any software, or do anything besides register the game?

Hey look, here comes another clueless one... Mistercharles, how the hell can I have a star next to my name when the fecking game crashes after I register? And besides, Why should I be lucky to be able to pay somebody money? Because that, copying some text, and then pasting that text is all that needs to be done to get the star there. Anybody can do that...
 

Oh, ok, then i guess your not lucky to have the star next to your name, but maybe your lucky that MM still comes out with more versions of this game, and registering isnt just about the stuff, its also about supporting soldat and the things MM needs to keep making it.

Lapis, I already tried that. the game works as long as it's unregistered, but as soon as I register, it all goes to bollocks. and actually, i don't even have to uninstall to get it working. all i have to do is delete the registration key from my registry. And also, I haven't installed or uninstalled anything in a long time. In fact, Soldat is the last thing I installed. 

----UPDATE-----

I tried registering on my Desktop, and it was working fine. So I restarted, installed my mod, restarted again, messed with resolution and everything. It seems to be working fine on the desktop, which is good but kind of gay too. Apparently the registration doesn't like my laptop's hardware or vice versa. It's still kind of a waste since I rarely even use this thing anymore, but oh well. I guess it can't work out perfectly... At least I can play the game on the laptop at all.

Did it fix the problem Magus86? If it didn't you should try re-installing soldat. That seems like a good idea for your laptop.
