Huge avatars don't always get resized

Just now I decided I might have this as my avatar, so instead of downloading it and uploading it, I just gave the link to the original 300x300 pic image to my profile and expected it to automatically be resized. It wasn't.

So it seems that the avatar system is pretty faulty at the moment. Avatars I used to be able to upload wouldn't upload, save this owl one I have now.

You shouldn't be so lazy, when that feature actually worked it ruined the quality of the picture.
