yeah but you make a copy to give to someone who hasn't bought the product so TECHNICALLY it is stealing

and a copy is the same product, original or not, you're not paying for the packaging your paying for the product itself and its stealing whether or not you pirated some or all of it

I'm interested in what demonic thinks about youtube with people posting music videos and including it with their videos. Should "the man" be allowed to mute these?

Case A: the video becomes famous, millions watch it, and will associate the song with it, perhaps even going on and paying for the artist at one point or another. No harm done, and it's a form of free advertisement.
Case B: it's a video of your newborn daughter and two hundred people watch it on a market of two billion. Those two hundred might still like the song.

No, the man can go screw himself. The point of free information is that copyright law should only prohibit other people making money from your work.

this is a semantic argument relevant only to those suffering from autism. and as far as the rest of you are concerned, you're all just interested in getting something for free and trying to justify that.

And in the meanwhile, the people who would've paid for it in the first place still want to, albeit at a lower price, and with a finer rate to the artist. It's obvious if you look at the sheer number of downloads that most people wouldn't have bought it in the first place, so they're not really a loss - but later on they can still generate income, and their pirating is like an efficient way of advertisement.

^ And and if the Pirate Bay founders were jailed for something that's obviously wrong and should be stopped, why is there so much public support for them? It's not like only a shadey hardcore were ok with being interviewed and sending emails to the BBC when the story was reported.

I want to see the singer/band earn the most money, not the freaking recording companies. If anything, the recording companies ARE the real thieves, because they are ripping the MOST money from the artists' hard work while the artists earn a lot less.

A band is nothing without an audience and an audience is nothing without a band. Similarly, the band can't really make money if they don't have professional recordings, but the recording companies can't make any money if they don't have contracts from bands. I don't understand why the recording companies deserve more money when they do the least work while the bands do most of the hard work.

I don't understand why some works/videos have to be muted and taken down for copyright reasons when it's actually some kind of free advertisement. It's not like anyone can really rip the song off, and it's not like the people who posted those videos are going to make money out of them.

Piracy is wrong I would agree, because like what moo said (and I agree with it):
yeah but you make a copy to give to someone who hasn't bought the product so TECHNICALLY it is stealing

and a copy is the same product, original or not, you're not paying for the packaging your paying for the product itself and its stealing whether or not you pirated some or all of it
However, I think the laws are going so stupid and biased, becoming perverted to support the recording company to make even more money than what they deserve.

If those books help you feel better about stealing then fine for you.

Are you sure about that?

One day my music teacher talks about piracy and illegal music download.
Next day i found him sitting alone in the wardrobe searching on piratebay.

Pirate Bay is not a crime in my oppinion. Its the way internet are. If you dont like it, dont use it. Piracy is so big so you cant stop everybody using it. Its too many people.

That's the second time this shit has came up. I'm not feeling bad about what am I doing, because the bands I pay to see, or the albums I buy, the movies I go watch at the cinema were ALL preceeded by some sort of pirate activity - not only because it's free, a much more comfortable solution, but more often than not the only way for me to even get hold / know of this stuff in the first place.
