Curt's Switch Climbing (aka Curt's Switches)
IP: mologie.de (92.51.142.85)
Port: 23072
Location: Germany
Maps List:
  • sc_Tutorial
  • sc_Example
  • sc_Zigs

Its a climb server, so there are no weapons, but this isn't an ordinary climb server. There is a script that switches a certain polygon to change type if you touch another type of polygon. Try it out yourself and you'll see what I mean. Once you join, do !help.

Maps are needed! You can join the server to see what has been already made, there is a small collection of maps. If you wish to make a map, please contact me.

I do not plan on keeping this server forever, and hope for somebody to ask for everything needed to have their own server and have them run and manage it. If you like this gamemode, and own servers; feel free to contact me for information relating to how to run the server.

Due to cheating possibility reasons, there is no position saving/loading, nor the ability to throw or release the flag upon death. If you encounter a way to cheat, please share. It will be resolved as soon as possible. It doesn't matter too much though since stats are not kept, but they may be in the future, and it ruins the game for other players.

this is something completely new, I liked it, though the map is really hard...

people should test this at least once.

Nice, original idea. How did you do this anyway?

OnPlayerDamage with hurts, deadly, and bloody deadly polygons; I avoided using lava, but probably should use that as a instant-kill poly rather than deadly / bloody deadly due to the flame damage after stepping on it.

I'll make a tutorial or an easy map tonight, okay?

EDIT:
There are now a total of 3 maps. The two new additions are sc_Tutorial and sc_Zigz. The tutorial isn't much of a tutorial though. Zigz is probably a better tutorial :/

sc_Example sucks, on the lowest floor it's almost impossible to change deadly to safe. I was jumping at that green poly like 5 times(then I fell on yellow) and it didn't change.

(Sorry for double post but I wanted to refresh)

I'm taking a look at the idea map now.
EDIT: I took a quick look at the map, and it looks challenging at some parts, but possibly possible. Its been uploaded. I'll be uploading the script to soldat central or something sometime when I'm not lazy, so you can do tests yourself.

Yeah I had that issue numerous times. I plan on modifying the map sometime.

I forgot to test the map so it's not in the mapslist, but you can probably still vote it with /votemap to play it (sc_Idea that is).

I tested it on your server and I think the idea is brilliant. I don´t know why, but I am totally in making maps for subgamemodes such as this so expect a map for this gamemode :) Just to figure out how to do it: I need Grey, yellow, red and green, right? Nothing else? Can I use blue for ice? And may I pimp the looks? ;D

Yeah definitely! Keeping the basic colors would probably help anybody playing the map for the first time (would be nice to have all maps following a certain polygon-type color scheme)
One thing I dislike are lieing polygons... the ones that say they are something but they are not, I hate guessing games on climbing maps, sense thats not what climbiung is about.
You can most definitely pimp ur map up :D

Deadly Switch = Bloody Deadly
Safe Switch = Hurts (does not always work instantly, so I'd avoid trying to tap it from underneath like I did on one of the maps)
Swiched Polygon = Deadly
Safe = Normal

Also, try to keep the flags near each other. On one of my maps, the flags are spread out, and this can cause a hold up when it comes to players, which may ruin their time if they are doing good. (Not that it matters too much, times are not recorded (yet) :P)

There are no always deadly polygons unfortunately.

Yeah ice can be allowed. Ice will have to be an always safe polygon though.

I made a simple layout for the map I want to do, but I don´t want to make it pretty without knowledge whether it works correctly and I can just take prove of it if you upload it to your server and let me and others test it or test it yourself, so I included the archive where the .PMS is in in this post. No thanks please, this was fast done ;D

Well, I've added the map, and added both sc_Test and SC_Gore to the mapslist so others can test it. Simply !nextmap if its unbeatable :P
Relating to gore, the first section is definitely beatable, but I didn't have time to test all of it.

btw, I got to the flag on Test, but died a minute after :( the first actual jump on the red is hard :( but not dangerous :)

I made my map a bit easier(that red box just after grabbing flag was extremely frustrating).
